37.7 cl poured into my cantillon tulip glass
Blend from loterbol blond and 3 fonteinen lambic , sounds intresting !!

A - Pours a slight hazy golden color with a very smal white head, very low carbonation

S - Funk, bready yeastiness, little sweetness from the blonde it was blended with.

T - it Starts with sour and vinegar that evolves into a dry sweet taste that stays with you for a second. Definitely not like any other beer I've had before. It gets a lot better as it reaches à warmer temperature

M - very Nice blended beer. Incredably drinkable for such à high ABV

Poured from 375mL green bottle into my BeerAdvocate teku. This is the 2021 vintage.

Appearance: medium orange hue with a dash of haze and a finger of frothy eggshell foam. Looks nice.

Smell: lightly sweet malt with a light sourness. There’s a bit of a candy element here, which I like but overall the volume is a bit low to me.

Taste: quite a nice maltiness with a bright but not overpowering sourness kicks things off, preparing me for more of that candyness from the aroma. However, the finish is too sweet, almost cloyingly so. A big of earthy bitterness rounds things out; it’s good, but it needs to dial back the treacle.

Mouthfeel: medium-light body with a very big carbonation and a nice, if ephemeral, creaminess.

Overall: I am enjoying this lambic, and though it’s not perfect, it is definitely bright and drinkable and there’s practically no hint that it’s 9.7%.

12.7 ounce caged and corked bottle, 2021 vintage, best before end 2026 on label. Served in a Teku, the beer pours a somewhat hazy dark gold color with about an inch or so off-white head that stayed around a while. Good amount of lacing, too. Aroma is nice, the brew smells like funk, oak, wheat/grainy malt and some lemon zest. Taste is similar to the aroma, but with the addition of some white grape, pear, peppery spice and earthy flavors. Mouthfeel/body is medium, it's smooth and a bit creamy with a good amount of zippy soft carbonation. I thought this was pretty good, it's a tasty funky and earthy brew. Definitely worth picking up if you're able to!

375ml bottle served in a little Cantillon glass. 2021 batch. Bought it at Bottleworks.

Pours a slightly hazy golden orange with a medium sized head and astonishing retention -- thick, and creamy mostly even cap. Very pretty. Smell is tart, a little lemon, some gueuzy funk, clear oak.

Taste is interesting, lots of lambicky-ness, and a strong saison-y funk / spice. Lemon note moves a little toward orange, tartness is offset by something sweetness, almost reminds me of ripe nectarines, oak is there in the background.

Mouthfeel is rich, creamy, velvet. Overall, this is a very good beer.

A 2021 bottle.

A: Opens with a big POP. A bubbly, foamy white head pours out. It becomes manageable after a minute. A hazy orange/yellow color. The foam gently recedes to a ring that sticks throughout. Spotty patches of lace.
S: Big musty basement like Funk, oak and vanilla all mingle and dance together. More of a toasted malt character with dried citrus fruit aromas.
T: That musty basement funk, oak and vanilla are all up front. More toasted malty flavors, some sweetness, with just a hint of dried citrus/fruity acidity. For a Lambic, I was expecting more of the tart/acidic character to come through. There is more of a sweet finish. Though still very nice.
M/O: A medium to full body. At first, spritzy and crisp carbonation. Though that smooths out, would like a drier finish, but small grips. The alcohol is noticeable, and very high for a Lambic. Though still something I'm enjoying sipping on.

I'm not sure I have had a Lambic like this before. The high ABV makes this a sipper, but a really enjoyable one. The acidic/tart/sourness isn't nearly as prominent as others in the style. Instead, the funk, malts and the oak have more of a presents. All that said, its still very intriguing, and...whats that word again...oh yeah, enjoyable. Definitely recommended for something a bit different with the style.

Poured from a 12oz bottle into a tulip glass

Look: hazy golden brown with a thick white head

Smell: Tart but pleasantly so. Green apple, white wine, lemon, and cracker. Very nice.

Taste: Mild smartie like tart up from with a nice salty kick. Body is green apple, oak, white wine, and golden bread.

Feel: Bright and clean. Highly active carbonation. No alcohol. Mild acidity. Mild bitterness.

Overall: A brilliant blended sour. One I will keep an eye out for in the future.

saw this on an obscure bottle list and had to try it with the homies, we love drie fonteinen and just had to, not knowing what this was, a blend of their lambic and this strong tripel type belgian golden, 2018 vintage for us, small bottle, cork and cage. the beer is a clear at first, straw colored to light pale orange, but quickly gets more sedimented as we pour toward the bottom, a decent head on it, but short lived, and it immediately smells dusty and old, and like there is way more belgian ale than lambic in the blend, not what i expected at all, perhaps the storage of this one and the green glass got the better of it, but it smells oxidized to me, tired, but still unique and interesting and ferment forward to we march on. the flavor is odd, more malty it seems up front than it color really indicates, almost toasted to me, and with the sort of candy sugar added vibe i get in many tripel types, not so much sweet as the flavors of that sugar specifically, whether its in here or not. i honestly dont get much lambic either, a little tang to it sure, but the funk and wildness of the drie lambic is largely absent unfortunately. thankfully the yeast in the belgian ale is cool, its unique, spicy, and well used, white pepper and coriander essence to it for me, a hint of dry white wine maybe, dried flowers and even culinary herbs. some oak in the mix too, way in the back, more as it warms, but the oxidation puts cardboard and skunk all through it too, past its prime weirdly, unexpectedly. more lambic would improve this, because more lambic improves most things, but to me this was a little bit of a miss, its boozy, somewhat sweet, kind of stale, and not real cohesive, certainly below expectations given the collaborator, but its still of merit, unique as a blend of these styles and really my first exposure to loterbol, would love to score more of their stuff. not the standout i was hoping for, but a rare and fun bottle shared with the boys is always a treat!

Poured this beer from a bottle into a tulip glass. Hazy golden yellow color with excellent head and curtain lacing. Funky fruit smell and taste. Floral with dry white wine and oak. Some tart berries. Very enjoyable beer!

Part Belgian Strong Pale ale and part Lambic, when Loterbol and 3 Fonteinen get together, there's a spicy, strong, sour and sweet party to be had.

Their collaboration Tuverbol '21 kicks off with a pale straw, slightly tarnish, slightly burnish, but still racy with turbulent carbonation. As its frothy honeycomb structures rise from the ale, its billowing froth is illuminated by a spicy, earthy and tangy medley of white wine, sea air, weathered woods, saddle leather, dried citrus and a general scent of cellar-like conditions. More gentle through on the palate, a sweeter tone of honey, sugar cookie and wafer have a maltier mark early in taste.

As the flavors unfold on the middle palate, the flavors develop from the strong ale and toward the more gueuze-like character slowly but steadily. Fruit with early pear, apple, lemon and honeydew, the fruits eventually trend in a sharper grapefruit, lime and white grape direction; each of the dried and weathered character. Meanwhile, the balance of earthen spice grows with peppercorn, cumin, oak, pectin and lemongrass. With the hop bitterness and a piquant medicinal spice signaling closure, the flavor profile is complete.

Medium bodied for sour ale, but certainly drier for strong pale ale, the beer meets in the middle of the blend. Spicy with alcohol, sourness and yeast spice, the beer finishes warm, acute and simmering into a medium length afterglow of sourdough and wine must.

2019/2020 bottle says 9.6% on the back.

A- Cork pops of the 375ml bottle with a strong oomph and the beer pours with a medium golden body that has a slight haze to it. A head forms to an inch high with a foamy, yet thick and very sturdy consistency. Great head retention. Lacing is moderate with thick blankets on parts of the glass.

S- Aroma reminds me mostly of Saison but with some funk and acidity in the backdrop. Lemon, pepper, Belgian yeast spice, phenols and a dollop of cherry-pie/horsey/slight bandaid Brett right in the face. Damn that's some nice Brett.

T- Dry and spicy flavor profile that has a pretty strong bitter grip on the palate with spicy phenolics coming on strong on the taste buds alongside a healthy portion of funky, musty Brett. Straw, light citrus zest, peppery, strong yeast spices, grassy and horsey flavors. Grapes come to mind.

MF- A pretty wonderful body if you ask me, kind of reminds me of Orval. Very fluffy and puffy but has a nice substantial creamy mouthfeel. Smooth and the carbonation is very high. Dry, bitter finish.

Certainly an interesting brew with a fantastic aroma of Brett and spice but the flavor seems to pack too much of that intense yeasty phenolic feel. Flavor just feels like it has too many strong characters fighting for that number one spot and it loses some balance.
