Notes: This beer utilizes Passionfruit and guavas from our tree in the parking lot. 30% is aged in red wine barrels and 70% is aged in stainless steel. The beer is fermented with our house cultures that contain lactobacillus, pediococcus, and brettanomyces. The exotic, ripe qualities of the unique fruit comes through as refreshingly zippy, aromatic, funky, and fun!

Batch 3:

Mostly cloudy hazy yellow with a dissipating frothy white foam head. Smells like fresh guava and tart passionfruits, French oak, red wine barrel, sour vinegary funk, tart tropical citrus, with dusty floral earthy hops. Tastes really sour and vinegary with some tropical passionfruit and guava fruits, acidic red wine, French oak barrels, some oaky spice, barnyard funk, cider notes, with dusty floral earthy hops. Feels medium light bodied, smooth with moderate high carbonation. Overall a nice and puckery sour ale with passionfruit and guava.

Hazy bright gold with a minimal bubbly blanket.

Smell is lime candy and Altoids. Super weird.

Taste is very sour tart lime, and very light on the guava. Didn't taste any passion fruit.

500 mL bottle. Hazy pale yellow. Smells of passionfruit, guava, and acidity. Lemon, grape and wine, kinda musty, too. Tastes immediately very sour, kinda drowning out the fruits. I get a little guava. A little wine and grape. A touch of grain and a messy yeasty finish. Light body. Medium carbonation. Tasty, but a little bit all over the place with sourness and it loses its fruitiness.

This is probably the most surprising beer I have drank in a year. I didn't know what to expect and I was absolutely blown away. This beer literally tastes like straight up guava and passionfruit juice, but has tons of nice tartness and balanced carbonation. Wow.

Whoa there...tons of tropical fruit in the aroma along with a typical acidic aroma. The oak presence is notable through the nose as well. Taste follows the nose even more spectacularly. Seek these sours out.

So.....this review is based on the second attempt at drinking this. Our first bottle literally had a dead fly in it. Drain pour! I couldnt drink it knowing that sucker was floating around and degrading for at least a month. The flyless version was a very tasty brew. Great color, nice and tart. Can really taste the fruit.

This is the best beer I had had in over a year. Perfectly balanced sour that is crushable and delicate. The guava pops on this, passionfruit finish with a touch of brett. This is a must try.

- 2015 vintage
- 4oz. pour off tap into flight glass at Haven (Orange, CA) on 14-Jan-16

Love the guava presence and detect a bit of the passionfruit as well. Low acetone level; tartness is a bit on the higher side. Overall, a solid wild ale.

Appearance: Arrives goldenstraw colored with a modest cap; a few dots of lacing linger

Smell: Acetic tropical fruit aromatics

Taste: Acetic flavors of passion fruit and a touch of lemon arrive, up front, with the guava adding a subtle sweetness in the back end; lactic tones build, after the swallow

Mouthfeel: Light to medium body with effervescent carbonation

Overall: This is a terrific fruited sours that hits all of the buttons; glad it was on tap when I visited the brewpub

Easily top 3 sour ive ever had. The after taste is second to none. Smooth finish with guava and passion fruit being the stars of the show. Perfect experience all throughout. Highland park brewery has the best wild ales in LA area.

A: Tropical fruit, passion fruit and guava are immediately evident on the nose.

A: Hazy bright light yellow color with a thin ring of head around the glass.

T: Passion fruit and guava flavors upfront, followed by a sour, citrus-like finish.

M: Light bodied with moderate carbonation. The beer is crisp, highly attenuated and refreshing.

O: Wow – this beer is impressive. Tropical fruits, especially guavas because of their creaminess can be tricky to work with, but Highland Park nailed this. This is beer is easy drinking and just great all-around.

Poured from a 16.9 oz bottle into a tulip.

The liquid pours a very bright yellow/gold with a very slight haze. Head is about 1 finger and it is very lacy. Bubbles throughout the glass very similar to champagne. Head dissipates rather quickly.

Smells of a tart passion fruit dominate the nose. Hints of guava, but very faint.

A very tart flavor on the tongue. Very fruity, passionfruit and citrus. Guava is on the back end.

Very carbonated. Feels like a soda in the mouth.

The super lite and refreshing on the eyes.
The smell of passion fruit followed by heavy heavy notes of guava.
Not over sour, but a slight tingle on the tongue. Loads do guava with notes do passion fruit. Just a super easy drinking beer.

Just a tremendously well-made sour from Highland Park (if you're in or visiting LA, they've quickly become a key stop for beer).

Pours a hazy gold with a very, very thin head that dissipates almost immediately. Some strong funk and tropical (obviously the passion fruit and guava) greet you right away, giving the impression of a much heftier sour. Instead, you get a delightfully light and citrus-y finish that combines notes of lemon with the aforementioned two fruits. Mouthfeel is crisp and clean. Same great beer from start to finish.

Pours a bright yet cloudy gold with foamy white head that quickly settles to a layer across the top and sides of the glass. Aroma is musty barnyard funk and sour tropical fruit. Taste is guava, sweet oranges, passionfruit and lemon. Can really taste the guava individually. Ends with a nice sweet and full lemon tart finish. Overall - extremely crisp and refreshing. Sour tropical fruit soda.

All tart passion fruit and guava. Fruit forward as can be. From a fresh bottle, the smell was a little off, with a little of that burnt rubber sort of smell coming off the top but it became fruitier as it warmed.

I absolutely love Raised Eyebrows and I'm shocked to see what I thought was a high score is actually lower than the average of these reviews. Whoops. It has one of the best fruity aromas I've ever encountered, and the interplay of the sourness with the passion fruit and guava is fantastic. Low ABV = incredibly easy to drink. I'm just bummed their recent bottle sale had a max of four per person.

This beer is ridiculous good. It's an explosion of tropical fruit on the nose. The sourness of the passion fruit really carries on the palate. It's not a one note sour tart (like Beatitude), but complex enough to handle the sour and the creaminess from the guava. I think if they aged this a little in barrel it'd take it to a whole other level. It's really good as it is now but I can only imagine with age.

On tap at the LA Beer Week Kickoff Festival held at Exposition Park in Los Angeles, CA.

Pours a murky yellow with a foamy off-white head that settles to wisps of film on top of the beer. Small dots of lace form around the glass on the drink down. Smell is sour with tropical fruit juice, passionfruit, and guava aromas. Taste is much the same with sour passionfruit and guava flavors on the finish. There is a mild amount of acidity on the palate with each sip. This beer has a good level of carbonation with a crisp mouthfeel. Overall, this is a very good beer that is super tasty, refreshing, and easy to drink.

Serving type: on tap.
