A - Pitch black pour with a thick, bubbly toffee colored lacing ring, very sticky on the sides of the glass.
S - Forward and aggressive nose with coffee, dark roasted malt, some bourbon and vanilla, does not have a strong alcohol forward aroma.
T - Deep roasted dark chocolate from start to finish, bourbon, dry oak, delicate vanilla.
M - Full bodied, thick, syrupy, slippery, lip smacking sticky. Lingering burnt chocolate sweetness.
O - This is a really good barrel aged stout.

On tap at Highland Park Brewery in Los Angeles, CA.
Pours an opaque black with a foamy dark khaki head that settles to wisps of film on top of the beer. Tiny dots of lace form around the glass on the drink down. Smell is of dark roasted malt, cocoa powder, coffee bean, vanilla, toasted coconut, bourbon, and wood aromas. Taste is much the same with cocoa powder, coffee bean, vanilla bean, bourbon, and wood flavors on the finish. There is a mild amount of roast and wood bitterness on the palate with each sip. This beer has a lower level of carbonation with a slightly crisp and medium bodied mouthfeel. Overall, this is a very good beer with great bourbon barrel aged characteristics that work very well with the base beer.
Serving type: on tap.

Really fantastic barrel aged stout. The nose just fills with sweet roasted coffee, chocolate and caramel. The palate is silky and smooth *think seamless* and drinks much lower than the 12.5%. I'd say my favorite barrel aged stout coming out of Los Angeles County right now. Really impressed by the quality.

Thanks to rudzud for sharing.
Light fizzy head, foamy, little lacing, oily dank oil slick on mine, very nice legs, very dark but not quite pitch black.
Nose is very light. Muted dark malts, little roast, faint dusty cocoa and chocolate, light lactose milk choc and light fudgey, so light. Hint of earthy nutty coffee.
Taste is a bit sweet, candy malts, with dark slight roasty notes, touch of char, some fudgey notes but no choc or cocoa, bitter roast and spicy hops, hint of licorice, and earthy coffee, hint nutty, and light bourbon. Eventually gets to a bakers choc, bitter earthy choc, chewy, little nougat notes. Finish is drier, little sticky, mild mocha coffee.
Mouth is med bod feels a little thin, light carb, very little booze at least.
Overall meh, ok but way too light.

Reviewed from notes. Batch 3. Poured from a 500ml capped bottle black under a 1/2-inch thick mocha head which fades to a thin cap and rim leaving spotty lace. Aroma is roasty, cocoa/dark chocolate, vanilla, bourbon, oak, mild char, coffee, and marshmallows. Flavor follows the nose with a syrupy sweetness, more coffee than roast, and char. Fully body and semi-moderate carbonation. Rich, thick, chewy, sweet, roasty finish. Wow, dis good!

A - Poured into a Kate the Great tulip a nice dark brown with a thin mocha head that leaves thin wisps. Big legs and an almost oily wisp.
S - Aromas of light roast, faint chocolate, light char, light coffee, faint bourbon. Everything is really subtle.
T - Taste is similar to the nose, light char, little fruits, nice chocolate. Bourbon is relatively mild, very very light barrel notes. Like the nose everything is really soft and subtle.
M - Mouthfeel is lightly carbonated, almost too the point of seeming thin. Alcohol is hidden nicely though.
O - Overall this beer was really a let down. Everything was super super subtle. Rather underwhelming.
