Stuck in Glasgow as a result of Heathrow being closed. Unexpectedly here I had to try this brew and it did not disappoint. Taste is malty and smooth, great for the cold weather out here. Much thicker and better than say a Boddingtons. Good beer if you ever happen to be 'stuck' in Glasgow :)

This is Tennent's nitro version of 80/~. I tried this in the Boatshed Restuarant in Stornoway, but it is available in most Tennents bars (most of Scotland unfortunately).
The beer pours and amber-brown colour with a decent off white head that showed good retention up until half way through the pint.
The aromas were very faint. Sweet malts and a slight hint of caramel with a hint of bitter fruits; but these were faint.
The same story on the taste buds: a sweet malty taste with a hint of caramel in the mix, the beer left a lingering bitter aftertaste that actually clensed the palate, this beer would be ideal after a meal. The body is a bit on the light side for a 80/~.
This is OK, I must admit that it went down well enough for me to stay for another. It is just a bit bland, no real taste stands out. This is fine if there is nothing else available, but this, like it's Belhaven cousion, is not a patch on a decent Scottish 80/~.
