Ate dinner here on a weeknight. They've got a bar, plus dining booths in the back.also some sidewalk tables. Sports on the TVs. Generic decor.
Draft list is heavy on WA brewed IPAs, so their variety of styles could be improved, but nice to see all of the local beers. Server was friendly, and they plated a dish we split on two plates for us without us asking. The food we had was good.

Collins Pub is a mash up of Pioneer Square (old historic building, exposed brick) and craft beer bar. There are 20 taps, one for cider, and 19 for beer. The couple of times I've visited, the taplist has been mostly NW breweries, and heavy on the IPAs. Nothing wrong with that, but there are other places in town with a more interesting selection. The service was fine. The server knew something about the beers, but not a lot. I haven't tried the food.

I visited Collins Pub yesterday on the recommendation of a friend, and I'm glad I did. This is a small neighborhood pub with a moderately-sized but outstanding taplist. They have 20 taps, focusing on Puget Sound-region breweries but occasionally going farther afield; the quality of the beers is very good indeed. The bar itself looks simultaneously old and lived-in as well as clean and welcoming; service is decent enough. If you want some great beer, it's definitely a good place to check out in the Pioneer Square area.

Calm inside and away from the noise, Collins Pub is one of those places where you can unwind, have a conversation, drink a few good beers, and eat a quality dinner. The beer list already speaks quality, as names like Ommegang, Rogue, Laurelwood, Drakes, Pelican, Dogfish Head, Stoup, Aslan, and Holy Mountain pour from the 20 taps. In addition, a handful of Belgian beers from the bottle were available as well. Despite the fancy glassware that I spotted which was reserved for the bottled Belgians, shaker pints were the glass of choice for the drafts. Nonetheless, my Bellingham Brown was dreamy. Nearly as dreamy as the beer was the food; a grilled pork chop with yukon gold potatoes and asparagus was just the comfort food that was calling for me after a long day of sightseeing and drinking in nearby Tacoma.

I think this place gets more credit than it deserves. Maybe it's because it's close to the ballpark and in an area that otherwise lacks for good beer. But there was a lot here that disappointed me.

Chilled shaker glasses for the beer. Clueless waitress. Poor info on the beers listed, including some beers that weren't listed correctly. Extensive taplist but mostly standard stuff.

Temper your expectations when going in here, this isn't a world-class beer bar by any means.

I stopped in here for a couple beers while checking out Seattle with the wife on vacation.

V: Fairly typical pub vibe. A few TVs with baseball on.

Ser: Solid, not spectacular

Sel.: Good selection, not great. They did offer several local beers, which I always find valuable as a visitor.

Overall, if you are in the area looking for a beer I'd recommend checking out Collins Pub, but I don't think it will become your new favorite bar.

We stopped at Collins Pub on a sunny Friday afternoon after buying some art from an art gallery nearby. Pioneer Square is a funky 'hood, so full of art galleries, stores, old buildings... and tons of homeless people loitering around. Oh, Seattle...

The Collins is beautiful, big inside, with a long bar and booths plus a dining area on the back. Nice atmosphere, a neighborhood-bar-meets-classy-joint kind of place. Chill and quiet on a Friday at 4pm, we sat at the bar and enjoyed some local brews. Great music as well, including Postal Service and Strokes.

The chalkboard menu says it all: Sound Tripel, Twelve Bar Red, Naked City, Anacortes, Breakside, Fremont, Island Hoppin, Boneyard, Black Raven... it's all about the great Pacific Northwest.

A bit too many IPA's and not enough big beers or stouts, but it's all good. Bartenders were nice and funny and a good time was had by all here.

One of my favorite watering holes. Staff is knowlegeable and super friendly.

Atmosphere at 4p-5p is commuters and professionals that grab a pint, interesting crowd, 4 tvs w/no sound, cool music (bar tenders'), then late at night or early afternoon, slower.

Q=food is okay. Service is usually great, occasionally it is understaffed.

S=20 taps of of mostly micros (Rus Riv, Gr Flash, Uinta, Oakshire, Boneyard, HUB), many locals(American, Bl Raven,Elysian, Anacortes), great IPA selection, all styles of beer.

I usually don't come here to eat, but when I do, it is okay and reasonably priced

$5/pint or tulip if high octane, $4 happy hour

Upscale gastropub atmosphere with plenty of brass and wood. I sat at the bar on a Monday for lunch. Very uncrowded. Despite the four or five TVs tuned to soccer games, the place wasn't noisy or have a sports bar vibe. Bartender was very knowledgeable about the available beers and was helpful in my selection of the local/regional offerings. Food was good, about what you'd expect in that type of establishment. Twenty or so drafts, rotating on a regular basis. If I lived near downtown Seattle, I could easily make this place a regular stop.

Stopped in here after an afternoon of wandering Seattle.

The atmosphere is quite pleasant, seems to be a more upscale bar. It was quiet without a lot of televisions.

The beer selection was all high quality stuff with stuff like Pliny the Elder, Black Raven Wisdom Seeker, and La Foile on tap.

The service was friendly yet not over attentive which I like.

The food is good and about the right price for eating in the area.

The prices seemed reasonable.

Overall this is a pretty good spot to get beer if you are downtown, while not as good as some other Seattle bars, it is very much worth stopping at.

The atmosphere in Collins Pub is nice. The inside isn't overloaded with televisions like many other places and has paintings from local artists on the walls. There is a small patio that goes out on to the street as well.

The beer list has about 50 to choose from, with a respectable amount of Belgian selections. On tap was about 12 mostly mediocre local craft selections.

The service was very attentive and friendly. The bartender created a cocktail for my girlfriend which he invented that was actually quite tasty.

The food was good at this place as well. Although we only ordered dessert, it was great and the other selections on the menu looked good as well as they passed our table.

Value was decent.

Overall, I would go back to this place as it is relatively close to the hotel I typically stay at and a good place to go and chat.

The closest good beer bar to my hotel (well, Stumbling Monk was about the same distance but not open yet), I stopped in for a couple of pints and snacks at the end of the day.

Collins Pub is located in a small storefront on 2nd Avenue. There are a few tables outside. Inside is a bit cramped. There are tables in the front and back and a small bar area on the left.

About 20 taps, mostly local and high quality. Fat Tire was probably the least appealing choice. I had a Velvet Merkin and a Walking Man selection I can not recall. Both were nice and fresh.

I had a couple of happy hour app specials, both of which were just ok. Service was attentive. A nice stop, though the long walk up the hill to my 6th Avenue hotel was a bit taxing.

Visited this place on a cold, rainy night specifically to try some beer from Anacortes Brewing. Naturally, Collins had run out of the requested IPA.

Outside, this place looks pretty unassuming; converted from an old retail building. Inside, soaring ceilings with lots of wood panels, big mirror behind the bar and sort of a dark, private club ambience. What I didn't enjoy was really loud music playing constantly along with ESPN on about five big TVs. At times, the music got so loud, I could not hear myself talk. The whole vibe didn't work for me.

Nice selection of tap beers at fair prices. I had two different IPA's and the Port "Santa's Little Helper" which was a huge Imp.Stout. They only charged the regular beer price for a full pint of this excellent seasonal; probably a mistake.

I marked down the service because they really seemed overwhelmed by a not particularly large crowd. Plus, no time or desire to discuss beers or any small samples.

Food was also good. I had the house-made lasagna which I really enjoyed but was a bit overpriced at $14.

Overall, an acceptable place for a good beer but I doubt I will return. Too many other places in Seattle with an atmosphere I prefer to Collins.

Just returned from Collins Pub. A slightly upscale bar with an excellent tap list. Very focused on the local brews. The only criticism would be that they are heavy on the IPAs and light on more sessionable ales, reds/browns/porters/etc. But that is a reflection of the region and most likely their customers tastes.
I had a nice crisp kolsch, followed by Double Mountain Vaporizer extra pale and Hopworks IPA. Very nice selections all around suggested by a well versed bartender. The service was sometimes a little slow, but very knowledgeable and accommodating. Other brews at the table included Firestone Walker's pale, an oatmeal stout and a black IPA.
The food was excellent, at the table there was the risotto, the sausages, a burger and fish and chips. All very tasty fare.

Excellent grub, good brews, a nice (though IPA heavy) selection. Thank you Seattle.

A: Atmosphere is very calm, laid back, mix of music on, people drinking good beer and unwinding. Was not very busy both at lunch and after work. Relaxing place to have a very good brew.
Q: Quality is phenom! My food was above and beyong traditional pub grub. Very surprising.

S: Ok. Good on some days, bitchy and understaffed on others

S: Selection was outstanding this day. I had a Fish Old Woody, Mirror Mirror, John John, Anacortes IPA, Chuckanut Pils and a Jubel 2010(not all at once). They also had Old Boardhead, Green Flash selection, Boundary Bay Amber, Breakaway IPA and 20 taps total and all were very good.

F: Ranges from average to good. Burgers are good, rest is decent and overpriced.

I've been to Collins several times, as we generally park across the street when going to Mariner games. An attractive room and always an attractive tap list. My most recent visit featured brews from Rogue, New Belgium/Elysian, Stone, Roots, Diamond Knot, Boundary Bay, Anacortes, Breakaway, Russian River, Guiness, Bitburger, Victory, Alaskan, Fremont, Bison, Hipster Deluxe, Roslyn and Walking Man. I've never eaten here but the food always looks yummy. The service is very good, friendly without being clingy or fake. I will go back and recommend you visit when possible.

I really like Collins Pub. The atmosphere isn't the best, and its not really the best place to meet people, but as far as the food and beer goes, it is excellent.

The tap list is pretty impressive, about 20-25 mostly local taps that seem to rotate pretty frequently. As the printed beer list says, check the chalk board for the current selections as the printed list is likely already out of date. Mostly NW locals as I mentioned, but they do carry some from other regions on tap. A recent visit netted me some Pliny the Elder and La Folie.

They also have a great bottle selection encompassing a much wider geographic profile, and including some definite BA favorites. All the beers I have tasted have been fresh.

Food definitely leans to the gourmet side for a pub, and I have enjoyed everything I have had. The burger is top notch, and I highly recommend substituting for the sweet potato fries. The appetizers are all good too. Our recent crap and artichoke dip actually had nice big lumps of dungeness.

Service can be a touch slow - it seems they are generally a bit understaffed. But they are always friendly and helpful, which compensates.

Overall, a great ale house.

Dropped in for a pint. The atmosphere was a little stale and corporate for my taste. High quality furnishings decorate the pub, something a businessman would love I guess.

The service wad decent but nothing outstanding.

I had a Ten Fidy it was quite pleasant. There was a dozen or so high quality beers on tap and more in bottles. They had Stone IPA, Lagunitas Hairy Eyeball, Moylans Barleywine, and other pretty good beers on tap. Prices were decent, I paid 4 bucks for 12oz glass of Ten Fidy.

Decent little pub but I think that it was a little stale for my taste.

I visited Collins Pub on a business trip to Seattle after finding it here on BA.

Collins Pub is an upscale and hip establishment that focuses on great beer, good food and atmosphere. It's a lot nicer that many of the places I go for good beer but I don't hold that against them because they really come through on the beer. The high ceilings, red walls, natural woods and original art create a unique and warm atmosphere. They had some classic 70s music plying as well such as Elvis Costello, The Who and David Bowie.

Collins has the best lineup of NW beers on tap of any Seattle pub I've visited. They have 18 with most from Washington, Oregon and California including some of my favorite breweries like Walking Man, Ninkasi, Rogue and Lagunitas. I had a DIPA from Roslyn Brewing Co and it was outstanding. They also have a large selection of bottles (50-60?) with lots of Belgians.

The owner, Seth, was very helpful and seems very happy to discuss beer and the Seattle beer scene.

Collins Pub is now my favorite beer bar in Seattle (with Elysian being my favorite brewpub). Uber Tavern comes close but I didn't think the selection of NW beers was nearly as good. Check out Collins Pub if you're in the area.

We stopped in on our walking tour of Seattle. We were on our way back from Elysian Fields and Pyramid. The place wasn't very busy but was a comfortable venue. The warm woods, glass and private booths gave it an upscale appearance.

They had a nice local selection and some surprises from our neck of the woods(Southern Tier). We enjoyed a couple of beers there. I believe they had about 20 taps and an impressive choice of bottles from all over.

We didn't eat, but the menu looked great. Unfortunately, we never made it back there, but I would recommend it for all to try. The bartender had lived in Cherry Hill, NJ for a while! Small world!

with a name like Collins, you know good things can be expected

The vibe was quite cool...cozy little booths for 2 in the bar area with a number of barstools as well. There was also a larger dining area that was very wooden. Cool artwork lined the walls, a few flat-screens in the bar, and giant mirrors added to the decor.

The beer list was pretty nice (15-20 taps at least with a bunch more bottles). We didnt eat but the menu looked solid.

RR Damnation was dynamite on tap and the Scarlett Fire IPA was great too. There were a bunch of other NW selections too. Its under a mile from the Virginia Inn and far superior. Its probably not of the same quality as the upper echelon (3-5) beer bars in the city, but its pretty solid and located right by the stadiums.

Service was bunk, but it wasnt her fault probably. They dont update their beerlist enough and i was told there may be things unavailable or new taps available. When asked what the new stuff was, she said she didnt know. I ordered a Lost Abbey Avant Garde and it was gone, so that sucked.

This is a great bar that would satisfy any BA. You first notice a few outdoor tables, but when you walk inside you see a nice beer selection. The bar area was not that big, and seats about 15. There is a huge mirror behind the bar that catches your eye when you walk in. There are several booths alongside the bar and bigger ones in the back. Some cool blues music was blasting from the stereo.

There are 20 taps and they are of local beers so anyone from out of town that wants to sample the beers of the area, this is a great place to go to.

Beers covered many styles such as Stone Ruination, Left Hand Sawtooth, Silver City IPA, Georgetown 9 lb Porter, Boundary Bay Amber and IPA, Lost Coast 8 Ball Stout, Oskar Blues Gordon, and Spaten.

The beers I had were fresh. Service was good but not overwhelming based on the large crowd.

Right in Pioneer Square in Downtown Seattle, Collins is a fairly upscale beer bar with local artwork (for sale) adorning the otherwise-minimally-decorated dining room in the back. The bar is long and narrow and has limited seating in the front.

They have about twenty beers on tap, featuring lots of Northwest and NoCal breweries. I had a pint of the Walking Man IPA, while my friends had Lagunitas The Hairy Eyeball, Full Sail Imperial Stout, and the rarely-seen Eric's Ale from New Belgium. There was good representation of other NW breweries including Port Townsend, Boundary Bay, and Rogue, but nothing too out there. A fine selection overall.

The service was slightly aloof, but the excellent food made up for it. The Collins Burger is delicious, and they are justly well-renowned for it. There are a handful of more upscale entrees, and fortunately, the burger is only $9.

Definitely worth a stop if you're touring Seattle beer bars, though it is a large cut below Brouwer's and Uber.

We were eating lunch at Salumi, and based on the recommendations I've read on ba.com, we stopped in here on the way back to Pioneer Sq. for a pint. Very cool looking bar, all the way to the ceiling with wood and mirrors. There was only one girl bartender, so it took a few minutes to get served, but she checked on us later. The beer selection was very good for a beer bar, but I was really hoping for a few more NW beers. There were only like 3 WA beers on tap and one from OR. And for bottles, they have at least 30 to choose from, but 99% were Belgian as I saw only one WA beer. I ordered the New Belgium Abbey Ale (came in correct glass) ad my wife got the Full Sail Imperial Stout (very good). Prices for pints and bottles were only slightly above reasonable. This place is certainly a good beer bar and is surely worth a stop if you are in the area. I guess I just got my hopes up that I'd be able to try some jewel of a NW beer but will have to wait til next time...

This is yet another gastro-pub in Seattle (in the key of Brouwer's) with a kick ass food selection and a great selection of beers.

With a varying selection of bottled and draft ales, this place offers alot of surprises almost daily if not weekly. Try the clam chowder, or the cheese plate.

Another bonus is the number of hosted beer dinners per year that they put together. Such previous dinners included; Silver City, New Belgium, Stone, and many others.

Well worth the visit.

I keep swearing off this place, but then I go back for the beer and the food. The tap list is usually excellent and the bottles have enough interesting things to keep even the most discriminating beer afficianados happy. I personally think Collins Pub has the best food of all beer spots in Seattle.

But then there's the service. I've been huried out several hours before closing when the place was fairly empty. I've sat at the bar with an empty pint glass for over 15 minutes several times while the place was not slammed but a little bit busy. The last incident, arrived a bit before opening, but the door was wide open. So my group took a table. Server came into the room no fewer than three times, ignored us, then waltzed over to the table and announced, "We don't open for another 10 minutes." and walked away. Not politely either.

It would be sooo easy for management to make this a top tier place, but no one seems to care.

Very nice location downtown within walking distance of Pioneer Square. Nice room with high ceilings and well appointed. Bar is long and has quite a few seats and quite a few taps. Quite a bit of local stuff on tap and a number of one-offs and rarities. As others have said, there tap list could be more up to date. We were there during lunch and there were still several taps that were incorrect. No matter, our server was effecient and knew exactly what was really pouring. Everything was fresh and top-notch. The menu is quite ambitious for a pub, and my special of butternut squash ravioli with a maple sage brown butter sauce was perfect. Unfortunately, my wife's seafood stew was off. Finding spoiled seafood in your lunch is a meal killer (and possibly more). That being said, it has happened to us at several other places and they acted as they should about the incident, comping the meal and our beers. So,I split the difference on the food score. Most of the menu looks great. Really glad I finally checked this place out. Re-reviewing after a year and a half here and growing along with this handy downtown spot.

I've yet to see any more late-night special events. This is a bit of a downer, since the one I did manage was quite good. That said, the bar is looking up. As the management changes out the art from month to month, the place gets a fresh look.

The trick here is to sit at the bar. The 3 or 4 ladies and gents tha work thing are occasionally brief and always stressed, but they learn your favouries and your name in the span of half a dozen visits. Nothing to write home about, but better than the service you get at the tables. Before and after Mariners and Seahawks games the place is packed with sportsheep drinking bad beer, but these instances are easily enough avoided.

The food is quite inspired. Sure, if you get a burger or the fish and chips, you won't be impressed - go for the smoked brisket or the ahi tuna. The rissoto is a work of art, as well. Haven't been impressed by the baby back ribs, but the hosue salad is tasy and minimal - worth subbing for the sub-par fries.

The Beer: Collins seems to change out their taps after nearly every keg, so repeat visits will be rewarded. The offerings span the East and West coasts quite nicely, and the bottle selection, though fairly static, includes some VERY hard to find offerings from all around the country and the world.

Highly recommended.

After a long, LONG day touring Seattle, we finished by going to the Smith Tower to enjoy the outstanding historic ambience and great views, then we stumbled out into the street and into the first available open door for sustenance and brew. I hadn't even checked out the BA beer bar ratings, and just by great good fortune happened upon this gem of a place.

When we first came in (about 6 pm Monday) the music was overly raucous, but it toned down. We had a booth in the back, our server was quite attentive and quick enough. It's a pleasant if not extraordinary ambience. The beer list (to my great surprise and please) *was* truly extraordinary. Twenty good offerings on tap, and I don't remember seeing a fart in the carload. I was offered a Boundary Bay DIPA - I never looked back. We also ordered a humus appetizer plate, which was very tasty, if small. We were given a break on the price of beers, whether by accident or on purpose I don't know, but I was only charged $4 for what probably should have been a $5 DIPA.

This establishment is recommended. I hope to make it back.

I've been to Collins Pub a few times now and have grown increasingly fond of the place. They have an excellent selection of constantly rotating beers on draft, with around 15 or 20 tap handles. Also, while the bottle selection is not huge, it is very well thought out, with a number of interesting selections listed (Rochefort 10 and Fred from the Wood for instance).

The service here is always very quick and friendly, and I love the layout of this downtown Seattle pub. High ceilings with lots of light in a very comfortable layout. {Note: with respect to the service, I've ever only come here on Sunday afternoons - usually on my way out of town back to Portland. This place is usually pretty empty at that time of day, which I'm sure affects the quality of the service I see. In other words, at the time I'm always there, the service is invariably fast and efficient)

IMO, considering where Collins is located (about a half mile from Pike's Place Market, right smack dab in downtown Seattle), the prices here are nothing short of astonishing. Pints here are $4 a pop, and you can get a taster sampler of 6 for $7. The latter is an especially good deal when you consider the beers come in 5 oz tasting samples (I've never been able to drink my entire round of samplers), and that Collins will let you sample anything, regardless of the abv. and/or cost per glass. The bottle beer cost is no less impressive, with the incredible Rochefort 10 selling for $8. Hell, I haven't seen this beer for anything less then $10 a pop out here on the East Coast, and that's assuming you can even find it out here. If one didn't know better, one would assume that Collins pub is the establishment 2500 miles closer to Belgium, rather then the other way around.

Even for a beer city as cool as Seattle, this place is an absolute gem.

I was able to stop by Collins Pub during my recent business trip to Seattle. Thanks to beerfly for pointing out this gem to me!!

Collins is located in a narrow building with a small terrace in front. The actual bar itself has a slightly cramped feel due to a metal railing that runs about 4' from the bar and acts as sort of a corral. They have some nice small tables against the wall opposite the bar and larger tables in the elevated dining area.

The pub has really high ceilings, large windows, exposed brick and funky artwork that add to the ambiance. There was a nice happy atmosphere. I really liked the Allman Brothers and Johnny Winter they were playing.

I counted 22 taps all except one is craft. Offerings from Bear, Stone, O'Harras, Lazy Boy, Boundary Bay, Victory, etc. They also had 8 bottled Belgiums to choose from.

The menu is limited, but innovative and takes advantage of the local ingredients. You should have no problem finding something good to munch on.

The service was friendly but a trifle slow. They do give samples, so extra points there!

I will have no problem going back to Collins. Great bar in a great city!

Collins Pub is not just good, it is special. The main reason is the location. Perched on the edge Pioneer Square, it is Seattle's ONLY sophisticated beer bar in that part of town. Ironically, there are a ton of bars in that area. Avoid most of them at all costs. They are tourist traps by & large. Collins Pub is an oasis of good pub grub & beer geekdom in an otherwise highly concentrated lame bar neighborhood. Don't believe me? See how many locals you find in Pioneer Square bars, vs. tourists.

It is walking distance form both Safeco Field (Mariners) & Qwest Field (Seahawks). Makes for a very worthy pre or post game experience. On the beer front, Seth (owner) goes out of his way to find unique beers from the region, many of which are hand-delivered by the breweries. A nice blend of US craft beers & imports, both draft & bottle.

The owner Seth is a super cool guy and he knows his beer. The Selection is great and the food is very good. He kept bringing beer after beer to taste. He knows about styles outside of the northwest which is great and rare in Seattle. His cook is great and the places clears out a lot after happy hour which I loved. His staff is great too. Brought a bunch of my friends with me one night got too rowdy and they were cool with that too. I really have nothing else to say but beer advocate insists that I type more so that is what I Am doing.
