2013 vintage bottle at 50 degrees into snifter
Aroma of bourbon and vanillin, lasts through entire bomber
Head small (< 1 cm, aggressive pour), fizzy, light brown, rapidly diminishing to 2 mm ring and broken layer
Lacing poor – few islands of tiny bubbles
Body dark brown/black, opaque
Flavor begins slightly sweet with lots of bourbon vanillin oakiness fading to slight tartness. No hops, no distinct malt, no alcohol, no diacetyl
Palate full, creamy, soft carbonation
Appearance 4, Aroma 4.75, Flavor 5, Palate 4.5, Overall 4.5

2013 and had on tap at the brewery in 2022
Look - great black and fairly thick looking with a tan head and lacing
Smell - chocolate bourbon and wood
Taste - chocolate and wood
Feel - medium body with a lighter carb
Overall - ok but I don't know if it just lot a lot from aging or if I would have never been a fan even if it was fresh? Not sure

It's easier to talk about the negatives than the positives. First off is the taste. Its like a shot of whiskey added to a stout. Nothing more. It really is bland, no complexity or layers to the beer. And then the mouthfeel: very thin. There was absolutely no body to this beer. Probably the thinnest barrel aged imperial stout I've tasted. The positive to this beer is the aroma. With prominent notes of whiskey, it's inviting. But that is it.
