Presentation: 12oz brown with a "enjoy by" date clearly marked.

Appearance: Deep soft black in tone with a slender yet sultry russet lace.

Smell: Velvety roasted nose with a suggestion of caramel.

Taste: Smooth as silk, carbonation is spot on. Full bodied with an underlying residual sweetness which adds to the whole texture of this brew. Roasted flavours are perfect and balanced ... without being mute or overpowering. The alcohol gives a light kick of warmth to the body. Hops are of the English variety and add a pleasurable woody bitterness that goes hand and hand with a gentle caramel flavour from the crystal malt. More of the woody hops taste in the finish with a disappearing roasted finale.

Notes: Wow ... big bad stout to be had, very impressive it feels like Full Sail's line-up of year round beers is complete. Pleasure to meet you Mr. Stout hope to see you again.

Equal parts dark brown and black, thin dark beige head less than 1/3" in depth. Aroma was roasty and other than that, smooth. Age had done this beer wonders in taming its original heat.

Soft roast and chocolate malt touch. Alcohol well hidden, kind of a bark like mouthfeel, i wonder if this got a little oxidized, still tasted good, but the ash tree like bark part was fine. Bitterness from back in the day mellowed. I definitely like what age did to this, early on, some hopping was still discernable, it isn't really now, there's a bit of bitterness, but the hops didn't morph into sweetness or added bitterness. Was good at any age, but I think the last was the nicest, or maybe its just me knowing the chance of having another is extremely small at this point.

Ah the final bottle of a very old six pack. Shocked this is only the third review.

Solid black beer with a hearty amount of head that is tan on the top.
Aroma delivered roasted malt.

Minimal chocolate malt up front, more two row, roasted but not overdone. Good amount of bitterness in the 60ibu range I'd guess. A little bit chewy, nothing too challenging here, no off flavors.
