Brewed by:
Full Sail Brewery & Tasting Room & Pub
Oregon, United States

Style: American Amber / Red Ale

Alcohol by volume (ABV): 6.00%

Availability: Year-round

Notes / Commercial Description:
Our Amber is a sweet, malty, medium-bodied ale with a spicy, floral hop finish. It's brewed with 2-row Pale, Crystal and Chocolate malts. And we hop it with Mt. Hoods and Cascades. We're as proud of it today as we were back in '89. And over the years it's earned 14 Gold Medals. Not that we're keeping track or anything.

Bottle has the date 09/15/12 on it. I suppose that means best by 15 September 2012. Tasted 8 July 2012, reviewed from notes.

Pours a medium dark amber, clear, with one finger of yellowish head. Decent retention and lacing. Just fine.

Smell is really faint, with a mild herbal hop aroma, quite different from the malty taste.

Taste is bready, grainy, slightly sweet malts, without much trace of the hops at all. Finishes watery, without any obvious bitterness.

Medium-light body, carbonation a little on the low side.

An okay, malty-tasting, fairly bland, amber ale.

A solid amber from Full Sail. It pours a dark red body with a really thick foamy head. Strong malt presence plays with some hops and a caramel & fruity flavor to boot. I think it's a pretty good beer, not one of the best ambers out there, but one that's worth trying.

A: This beer pour a medium amber with amazing clarity. The long lasting head is off-white with compact bubbles settling to about half a finger in height.
S: Moderate American hops and malt aromas dominate with the hops aroma being mostly citrusy with a little pine. There is some carmel with a slight toasty mixed in with the malt aromas. I keep wanting to say there is slight orange ester in the nose.
T: There is a moderately-high hops flavor and bitterness balanced with an initial malt sweetness. There is a hint of fruitiness in the flavor mostly orange.
M: This beer has a lively mouthfeel, with a medium-full body and moderately-high carbonation.
O: This is just a wonderful beer with a great balance of hops flavor, bitterness and malt sweetness. It's a moderately rich beer with a nice weight but I'd gladly throw back several pints of this.

It pours a hazy amber with a two finger thick fluffy, white head that dissipates quite quickly but laces quite well. On the nose there's not much going on, some roast malts, a little caramel, raisins/grapes, biscuits and bread, though all very weak and not overly appetizing. The taste follows the nose, though the malts shine through. It's quite sweet with a little hop bitterness following through on the back of the tongue. The mouthfeel is really water with a tiny bit of carbonation. Overall it's a really drinkable beer, quite nice for the heat of the day and would probably go well with some BBQ, but other than that, not much going for it, not worth getting a whole sixer of it and not worth much effort in searching out.

This was had on cask at the Full Sail riverfront pub. Pours a nice red/amber color with a good foamy head.

Nice and balanced with malty aromas, toffee and some hops. Solid depth, but not too exciting.

Very smooth medium feel. The feel is very nice but the depth of flavor is lacking a bit with notes of malts, caramel, and some hops.

A solid amber. Nothing too exciting but drinkable.
