I poured this from a chilled bottle into a pint glass.
A: The color is dark and rich, with a thin head that dissipates with no lacing.
S: The smell is filled with molasses, cocoa and oak (although it is not barrel aged).
T: Here's where things start to fall apart. The taste was odd, anything that was contained in the aroma was overshadowed by a flavor I can't really identify. I sipped it several times as it warmed to nearly room temperature and nothing improved.
M: Medium - light syrup feel (not taste)
O: I wish I could identify the root cause of the failure here, but it was like several strong flavors combined in a way that was off-putting. I've had hundreds of beers and many from the top 250. This is my only drain pour to date.

Drank a batch 1 (2010) of this last night. Pours black with some dark brown around the edges, real soft carbonation led to a brown head 1/5" deep. Aroma was roasted malt and dark fruit, minor oxidization.
Taste, more of the dark fruit roastiness. This one really transformed into some Russian Imperial Stout like dimensions, body seemed like it had thinned out over the last 7.5 years in exchange for all those dark fruit fig and raisin like notes. The roasting and alcohol was less prominent than it was with the bottle I drank in 2010.
I think the one major thing I notice is how "thin" this beer is compared to "imperial" stouts of 2017. This one might not even qualify anymore by contemporary standards. Neat to try, a little $5 experiment bottle, but hardly the stuff legends are made of.

2014 edition.
Poured from a bomber into a goblet on 05.24.14.
A: Midnight black with some red at the bottom. Fizzy tan ring at the top.
S: Vanilla, bourbon, chocolate, woodiness. It smells balanced.
T: Vanilla, bourbon, and fig dominate. Woodiness and roastiness are subtle.
M: Creamy. A little light and bubbly in the mouth compared to other BB stouts.
O: This is a well put together BB stout. It is milder in flavor than others, but the balance is perfect. This is in my rotation and it's always consistent.
