Pours a dark amber color with ruby red highlights. Aroma is fairly sweet, with notes of lactose and maple among a mild, roasted malt character. Palate is sweet malt (crystal?) with very little roast character. A mild, barely-detectable flourish of fruity hops comes through briefly before the swallow. A lingering maple character on the finish is odd but not unpleasant. Not much in the way of hops or bitterness - why is this called a CDA?

Poured into 10oz glass. Poured a deep reddish brown (not even a little bit black) with just a very faint ring of light tan head that had zero retention or lacing.

The aroma was very piny upfront, with just enough roasted notes in the background to notice. The story in the mouth was much the same, pine hops and a trace of roasted malts.

The body was thinner than typical for this new style. Drinkability was pretty good. The beer went down fairly easily. Overall, not a bad brew, but also nothing special. Worth trying if you see it, but not worth much effort to seek out.

22 picked up tonight at the COOP.. 3/4" tan head... the brew isn't black.. instead a deep and very clear walnut... head really doesn't stick around for too long.

Nice roasty presence is a bit higher than other BIPA's I've had ... but I like it.. the citrus hops aren't blown out and really overall the aroma is pleasing and very balanced.

Flavor is very fresh... roasty with a little French Roast... midpalate is balanced between the roast and hops along with some toasty presence... I dig this one... you really have to appreciate both sides of the spectrum.. the hops seem about perfect and the dark qualities are pronounced and pretty rich.

Body is good with a slight oily feel.. may be a touch on the light side, but I don't think so for a lower ABV...

All 4's.

This offering from Full Sail pours a deep dark brown not so much black. The aroma is piney citrus, chocolate, earthy aromatic notes. The taste is smooth, so delicious reminds me of a nice IPA but balanced with strong coffee, chocolate, maltiness. Great new seasonal offering from Full Sail and I hope it is here to stay.
