First had: nitro tap at Full Sail

Poured opaque black, with a cascade of creamy, nitro-fueled head. Aroma is big on the roast, as would be expected. Taste started out a bit thin, followed by a ton of roasty dark malts, with notes of coffee and cocoa, with a slight pervasive bitterness throughout. Heavier-medium body, smooth, and quite drinkable overall.

Basically, this is a Guinness. Probably indistinguishable in a blind tasting.

On nitro at Full Sail's brewpub, Hood River.
poured a pitch black with a one finger creamy tan head that faded quickly leaving spotty lacing.

Aroma of sweet roasted malt, and coffee.

Taste followed the nose with roasted malt, light coffee and dark chocolate with a nice bitter finish.

Mouth feel was medium body, smooth and creamy with a dry bitter finish.

Overall a nice pleasant Irish Stout.

On cask at McCormick and Schmick's restaurant, attached to Full Sail's brewing operation in Waterfront Park in Portland.

This beer appears a solid black, with very slight basal cola highlights, and one finger of loose creamy head, which leaves some nice webbed lace around the glass in its wake. It smells of roasted malt, mild chocolate powder, and earthy hops. The taste is semi-sweet chocolate malt, a bit of lactic sourness, and bitter earthy, leafy hops. The carbonation is on the low side of average, straight ahead for cask, the body medium weight and smooth. It finishes with more grainy chocolate and somewhat of a booze warming.

A pretty decent Irish stout, the cask just softening things further, but not quite to the fully ideal silky level.
