Poured from a 22oz. bottle to a standard pint. From the "2007 BrewMaster Series" and touted as 7.8% ABV.
A: Hazy Golden-copper with barely a 1/2 finger creamy white head, fading to faint wisps of smoky film. Splotches of lace affix themselves sporadically across the glass as it drains.
S: A funky melding of bitter, almost grotesquely pungent, earthy hops and a hidden layer of malty/sugary sweetness from a toffee-ish malt.
T: Big hops upfront, a jumbled mix. Is it citrus, pine, spicy, earthy or herbal? The result isn't bad, it's just undefined. Some toasty sweet malts sneak their way through the hops, giving a nicer balance. Finish is pretty bitter, mostly a tangy/juicy grapefruit.
M: Medium mouthfeel with a gently prickly carbonation. Once the bittering hops die down, a clinging grainy malt sweetness lingers. Some warmth from the alcohol, but not inconsistent with the style.
D: A good IIPA, though not terribly complex. Certainly good enough to have again and worth grabbing when available.

Bottle from Winco. Dark golden body with small creamy off white head. Malt features prominently in aroma, and provides a nice platform for the citrusy hops in the taste. Funky, tart bitterness hits the taste buds and lingers through to the finish. Not a huge IIPA, but has a nice kick.

Orange-amber color with plenty of white foam in the Ciney snifter. Flowery hop aromas with a spicy note. A touch of honeysuckle. Sprightly but mellow. Very pleasing warm malt flavors. Less acidic than a lot of IPAs but still plenty sharp to go with the sweet malt. At 7% I wouldn't call it a double IPA.
Citrus flavors in the abundant dose of hops. Overall this is a pleasing big fruity IPA. From the 22 oz bottle purchased at The Market in Anacortes, Wash. Clear with no sediment. This is the 2016 edition of this annual big brew. Eventually they'll have to start celebrating the anniversaries of some of these long-lived beers.

Pours a finger and a half of head on a clear straw body.
The aroma is ripe lemon, grapefruit, and a bit of pineapple.
The taste is moderate pine and grapefruit bitterness. Good balance.
The texture is crisp.
It's a solid IPA.

2016 Brewmasters Reserve -- ABV is 7.0%
Clear, dark gold colored body; thick, sticky, foamy white head. Heavy floral aroma and pine scents; some bread-like notes. Spicy, bitter flavor; nice balance of malt sweetness and hop bitterness. Medium-heavy body; mildly juicy quality on the palate; mostly dry finish.
A solid DIPA. It delivers a decent balance between the malts and hops with a respectable ABV level. It doesn't rise to the level of being trendsetting, yet should satisfy most beer drinkers looking for a satisfying DIPA fix.

Good orange color with decent clarity. A minor aroma of grapefruit and pine, more c hop stuff up here.
Taste also embodies the c hops. The malt is sweet, not caramel density. Its good, not great, which is the usual score for full sail hoppy stuff, at least their bombers are the most reasonably priced in the biz.
