Bright and honey-colored in appearance. A nice and fluffy quarter-inch cap forms after normal pouring and hangs out for most of the beer's glass life.

A bit of a subdued aroma for an AIPA. Nothing bad going on, just not the in-your-face spiciness that I expect from the West Coast. Mildly hoppy, a little grainy, pine and grass notes.

Surprisingly boozy on the tongue upon first contact. The hop flavor does kick in pretty quickly, and is followed by a nutty, doughy component that creates a temporary balance. I will say, however, even into the aftertaste the skunk/booze is still a little present.

I think the MF is this one's best quality. It is light to medium bodied, and has a lightly moderate carbonation level. What I like is the smooth texture left on the palate. I expected some silkiness based on the creaminess of the cap and was not disappointed.

Overall this is not a bad choice for an AIPA, especially since my store sells it cheaper than most crafts. I don't think it's incredibly exciting in terms of flavor profile, and in fact the booze/skunk factor I mentioned may be a turn-off for some that are still discovering the style. If you want an AIPA with a surprisingly fluffy cap and creamy texture, give this one a shot. There are, however, a TON of versions from the PNW that are much better.
