Pours a clear golden color with a sizzling, sudsy white head that speeds away from this beer and loads of bubbles climbing the glass. Tart green apples lead the nose, and are joined by a nice lemon lime aroma. This is like an apple cider 7-Up on my amateur nose.

The lemon lime is forward on the taste, with tart, sour apples in the background. This drinks really easily for an 8% ABV, primarily because the mouthfeel is so bright and crisp.

I’m not the biggest sour fan, but this is really well done, IMHO.

Finally, another one. Pouring one (or more) out for Trevor Strnad tonight. Tulip. This one pours a clear, bubbly gold. Plenty of white foam that fades fast, leaving you looking at a glass of vigorous bubbles, like champagne. It has a smell of undefined fruits. Unfortunately, I don't know what yuzu, buddha's hand, and sudachi are like on their own, so I can't say much about it. It smells somewhat unfamiliar and a bit woody. It's also been a long time since I have had a caipirinha, so I can't compare the taste to one to one. As a kettle sour, it is quite tart. To me, it is like lemons and green apple. I think I'm getting the caipirinha cocktail vibe the more I sip. It becomes more than just one-note sour. There are some more subtle flavors going on underneath the lemon-lime burst you get first blush. It's a very light and crisp drink. You wouldn't expect it to be as heavy on the ABV as it is.

Well, I think it's a pretty tasty warm-weather drink (supposedly 82F here right now) and probably a good one for people who aren't yet into traditional beer. It's kind of like some of the tarter wines I have had, except with a slight beer aftertaste. It's quite enjoyable. I think it does achieve the goal of representing a caipirnha. Even without remembering too much about the actual drink, I somehow taste the cocktail in it.

Very slight haze of the amber body, topped with a modest head that quickly disappeared. Faintly sour aroma. Slightly tart. Interesting flavor: lemon, tart apple & pear, mild funk & a lime finish. Pretty much lacking the flavor profile normally associated with a beer. Feel is thin with low carbonation, more like a cider. Absolutely no hint of it’s 8%. On the positive side, it is very thirst quenching.

Looks like a cider with a weak head to go with it. No retention.

Aroma is slightly sour and somewhat fruity. The fruit is very tropical with notes of lemon, yuzu, citrus and somelime. I am not familiar enough with either Buddha's Hand or Sudachi to know if they are present on the nose.

Taste follows the nose with notes of tropical fruit, lime, yuzu, lemon, and some other unfamiliar fruit notes. There is a certain smooth woodiness to it. Moderately tart and sour. Very refreshing.

Feel is light, crisp, bright, tart. Moderate carbonation. Dry finish.

This is not a Caipirinha, but it's a great homage to one. For drinkers familiar with the national cocktail of Brasil, this beer is a clever homage to the drink - right down to the aging of the beer in balsamo wood.

Pint can from the Extreme Beer Box, poured into a stemless wine glass.

Light golden yellow color that transitions to near amber. Champagne like white cover that disappeared quickly.

It smells like wood aged white wine. There are citrus, sugar, and floral perfume notes.

Lime flavor blended with other citrus, sour and sweet. Dry wooden taste follows the lime.

Sugar infused sour, tart and light. Refreshing and it carries its 8% abv well.

Everything about this brew, from its name, origin, ingredients, and wine like sour texture, scream Extreme. And I like it.

Good head production, although the white foam is quickly gone. Fairly clear golden body with a bit of haze.

Wonderfully sharp aroma, with notes of citrus, wood, flowers, honey, and pale grains. Picking out individual notes is difficult, but the resulting melange is lovely.

Flavor is similar, with a pleasant but difficult to nail down blend of flavors. Light to moderately sour, and balanced by the yuzu and Buddha's hand, as well as a light to moderate sweetness.

This is a refreshing, crushable sour, despite clocking in at 8% ABV. It would also be a good brew to introduce a novice to sour beers, as it's neither too complex nor too harshly sour.

I found this one very interesting. Definitely got the citrusy flavors that I expected from yuzu. But the Budddhas hand and sudachi really bring some interesting peppery notes and springy floral components. Hints of cilantro, juniper berry, basil, and wood come is as well. I don't love it, but knowing what I do about caipirinhas, this is the name said.

Served from the can in a Lagunitas mason jar.

You know that carbonated white grape juice they push around New Year's as a non-alcoholic substitution for champagne? Yeah, that's what this stuff looks like. The nose comprises agave, earthy lemon-lime, and a twinge of juniper berries. The taste is a mélange of mint, basil, mixed citrus, and pine sap, the aftertaste doing its best approximation of Squirt with a lighter carbonation. Speaking of, the body is a light medium, with a light moderate carbonation and a sticky, drying finish. I've never had the drink this is based on, so I can't comment on the adaptation, but the beer itself is pretty solid.

Carbonated white wine.
Pours golden with a medium white head that fades like a soda pop. Aroma is fruity white wine. Taste is fruity, carbonated white wine. I don't know what Balsamo wood tastes like, but there may be some smoothness provided as there are no harsh edges on this one. Same goes for the remaining named ingredients, I don't know what they are but if the goal is white wine, success. Overall, it's fruity white wine, and I'm not a wine person.

Appearance: With a hard pour, I was able to generate about a finger's worth of foam but it didn't last as long as it took me to type this; the liquid beneath was clear and golden; the ringlet left some dribbbles of lacing

Smell: Lemon, lime and a Tequila-like aroma, along with a perfumed fruity element that reminds me of a Mojito

Taste: Moderately tart fruit tones forward, with lemon, lime and starfruit elements; the wood emerges, in the middle, bringing flavors in the direction of, but not quite, cedar; the finish is dry and moderately tart

Mouthfeel: Light to medium body with low carbonation

Overall: This one is subtle but clearly different; being unfamiliar with these fruits and a Caipirinha, I had to think hard to wrap my vocabulary around my descriptions

Look: Crystal clear gold. Aggressive pour yielded a frothy white billowy head at first but dissipated quickly to no head.
Smell: Cat pee and white wine. Some floral notes.

Taste: Dry white wine. Sour. Cool feeling of alcohol evaporation in mouth. White grape. Puckering.

Feel: Thin body. I want to say low carbonation but I do pour aggressively.

Overall: If white wine is your thing, you might enjoy this. I’m not a big white wine fan in general.

The can pour is an optically clear gold with only a slight ring of fine, white foam.
The aroma is of sour apple and rose petals.
The flavor includes unique fruit flavors. Some are grape and apple-like. The floral aspect is in the flavor too. Lemon-tartness and malt are prominent.
The mouthfeel is crisp and dry.
This is pretty unique.

This Is Not A Caipiirinha from Japas Cervejaria. 16 oz can part of the BeerAdvocate 2022 Extreme Beer Box from Halftime, Poughkeepsie, NY. $132.49 (Including tax and shipping), $0.720/oz. Stored at 40 degrees after purchase. Reviewed 23/2/22. Note that I use DD/MM/YY protocol.
Stamped on can bottom “canned on 1/12/22”. Served at 43.3 degrees in a hand washed and dried Jester King snifter. Final temperature 55.0 degrees.
Appearance – 4.
First pour – Pale Straw (SRM 3), clear.
Body – Straw (SRM 3), clear. When rear-lite, same.
Head – Average (Maximum three cm, aggressive center pour), medium density off-white, fizzy with short retention, ending with neither crown nor cap. Several minutes after the head has disappeared, the insistent carbonation manages to produce a one mm ring of bubbles.
Lacing – None.
Aroma – 3 – Slightly sour with lemon and some aromas I don’t recognize. Overall, very light.
Flavor – 4 – Begins slightly bitter, with lemon. No hops, no malt, no yeast. A bit of wood on the aftertaste, but definitely different from the usual oak, more like poplar. Alcohol (8% ABV, as marked on container) is well hidden. No dimethylsulfide or diacetyl.
Palate – 3.5 – Thin, watery, lively carbonation.
Final impression and summation: 3.75 To me, yuzu seems to add a lemony note – I have no reference points for Buddha’s hand and sudachi. The wood barrel notes remind me of the smell of poplar rather than the taste of oak. The mild sourness and dryness make this a very refreshing brew - a rare sour for which I’d drive a hundred miles for a case purchase.

Extreme Beer Box of 2022. Pours a light amber that looks like beer, short head, moderate carbonation. Very little on the nose past a vague citris. Taste is like one of citrus breakfast beverages you get in Japanese hotels....citrus with that foreign touch you can't quite place. Likely due to the use of Asian fruits that are a rarity in North America. No real evidence of wood aging, but may be too subtle for us. It's good, maybe could use a bit more body. The 8% ABV is well concealed, like a Brazilian Caipirinha, hence the name. Refreshing in its own way.

It is refreshing. It was interesting to taste such a creative beer from a group of young ladies with a shared cultural connection.

Poured a see-thru gold-tinted body with almost no head or lace. Aroma that I can't quite place but it reminded me of different herbal teas I've had recently. Good balance between an herbal dryness and some puckering acidity, with a light and juicy sweetness that has a grassy finish. Easy to drink and the sour aspects aren't overpowering and is something different that is worth trying.
