Pours a clear, burnt orange with some red hues to lighten it a bit. There's an initial head, about half a finger thick, but it doesn't stick around long. Eventually you're left with a white ring on the perimeter.

Very high on the spices. Mostly cinnamon and nutmeg, with some cloves, but the actual pumpkin smell is faint at best.

Like the smell, the taste is all about the spices. However, this is the area where the cloves dominate. Some nutmeg and cinnamon is present, but the cloves are front and center. A bit of malt, but no sign of hops whatsoever.

It's a bit spicy, maybe too aggressively as it burns the back of the throat and it's not from the alcohol, which is only about 5% according to the not so informed staff. The sweetness from the cinnamon and malts help balance the assertive spices, but a bit of sweetness would be appreciated.

It's a good beer. Not as refined as some of the major pumpkin beer players, but probably their best beer and the one I look most forward to picking up when it comes out. More alcohol, better head retention, and an extra hit of sweetness would be great, but overall all it's still a good beer.
