I had to lower my score due to change in ownership and a change away from providing top notch craft beers and back towards serving the college crowd. Gone are the smaller pours and any higher rated beers like Zombie Dust and other FFF offerings. With all of the other options in town now there is no reason to go there anymore.

A: One of Bloomington, IN's hallowed halls. A place almost every IU student has been to and gotten sh!tfaced at. Remodeled in 2012, this place has lost the pool tables and foosball table and added a quite nice J-shaped main bar (no coat hooks though or outlets for your smartphone, wtf?) with TV's all over the place. Busy as all get out on a Friday/Saturday night, but what do you expect for a college bar. Very nice selection of craft beers on tap, nice regular bottle list without too much of a mark up, but the Reserve List is freaking embarrassingly expensive. Of major redeeming mark: this bar celebrates Dingus Day, and proudly advertises this on their coasters. Freaking awesome!

Q: Beer is fresh, food is good.

S: Service was very good.

S: Great tap selection. Nice bottle list.

F: Salads, sandwiches, burgers, dinner plates. Good food.

V: Everything is pretty well priced EXCEPT for the Reserve List of bottled beers. Nice price incentive to order the 16 fl oz beer vs the 12 or 5. Nice to have options though.

Ran in here on Saturday, following the first day of the Hilly Hundred bike ride. From the outside, it looks new. Modern facade, but limited parking. Inside, it's obvious the place has been rehabbed from some former establishment. Multiple bars, eating areas, taps spread all around. The highlight was the service. Jeff knew his beers and was quick to help you find one you liked. 25 or so beers on tap but nothing outrageous. The table had a Rochefort 10, Old Rasputin, Brother Thelonius, Kentucky Bourbon Barrel Ale, and a Bells Amber. All of the drafts were pretty reasonable. Lots of Belgians available as well as what they called "fizzy yellow stuff" (PBR, MGD, Bud, and the like). Lots of TVs going and lots of college kids. Overall, a decent place with lots to offer. Probably the best in the IU area.

full disclosure - i'm reviewing the *bar*. i go to yogi's to drink the craft on tap. period. end of story. i dont sit in the atrium, i dont watch the sports on the TV, i try not to use the bathroom too often and i'm too damn old to hit on all the hot chicks.

so, with that said...

great custom made bar. at the recent KBS tapping, i sat next to the guy that built the bar and had a nice conversation. he's also the bison farmer in town that supplies, apparently 40,000 pounds of bison to bloomington restaurants every year.

anyway, the bar is cool. pull up a stool and its all good. always a couple beer geeks nearby and the bartenders are friendly and easygoing. plus they pour a good beer and they pour it quick.

over 40 taps, i'd guess 20 to 30 are craft-ish on any given day. there's always beer on tap from 3 floyd's, bell's, founders, new holland, sun king and other area breweries. tuesdays you get a buck off michigan beers.

special tappings occur frequently. KBS, CBS, hopslam, batch 10,000, panzer wolf, dreadnaught... many others. good sized pours at a fair price. i think 12oz of KBS was maybe 5$ or so.

many bottles to choose from as well. many of them craft.

go to yogi's, grab a seat at the bar. be happy.

I drink often at this local establishment. It is a really good place to catch a game and/or a pint with a fine selection of rotating taps.

The service is pretty good, but they get busy and sometimes forget the beergeeks at the end of the bar. That said, it is not nearly heinous enough for me to avoid going.

The selection is large and rotates with some very fun beverages rather often. They have had kegs of KBS, CBS, Bell's 10,000, and many other badass beers. Three Floyds finest work is usually on tap: Gumballhead, Dreadnaught, etc. This and suite of beers from other regions make this a destination for beer lovers.

The food is typical bar food. Not much more to say on that.

The pricing is good and fairly typical for this area.

I will likely run into you one day at Yogi's. Cheers.

Edit: Many beers on tap taste quite old. I don't know why they insist on sitting on IPA and DIPA kegs for a long time. The quality of service has gone down over the last couple of years as well.

I used to avoid Yogi's like the plague back when you could smoke in bars, but glad I gave it another shot after the smoking ban.

Food wise it is your typical sports bar type fair. Nothing that knocks your socks off, but a lot of variety and good quality for the style. Everything there is a bit greasy though so not a place I always want to eat.

There is a large patio/family seating area as well as a bar area. I imagine the bar side gets a little crazier at night, but I haven't been there past 10 pm in quite a while.

The beer selection is the best taps in town. They have a constantly rotating selection of about 25 craft brews from all over with a good selection of Indiana microbrews. Plus you've got to love the category for Bud, Miller, etc listed as "Yellow Fizzy Stuff".

The only downside is the service. Even when it's not particularly busy we've still had trouble with the wait staff not being very attentive and the servers tend to know next to nothing about the beer selection if you are in the dining room area.

Still for something unique on tap and a decent dinner it's a pretty cool place.

Yogi's has a lot going for it in Bloomington. It's the closest bar to campus (although not by much), and it's close to the football and basketball stadiums. The atmosphere is college-town bar with lots of seating and tvs around all with something different on them. The food is usually very good pub grub, with some others mixed in as well. The service has never been bad, and the selection for food only gets small on game days. The beer selection is very good. A double-sided list of beers on tap and in bottles/cans. Every style imaginable, with beers from Stone to Founders to Bell's to FFFs. Very good bar.

In town for the Superbowl, needed some good brews and food. Google indicated this place was the place to go for beer.

Oh, and how many beers there are! The list was a front/back 11x17 affair with mixed bottles/taps, organized by style. The list was heavy on the pale ales but had an excellent selection of Belgians as well. The prices seemed a bit lower than I expected.

Food was pub grub, but better than I expected. The big red wings were actually hot -- not just "hot".

Service a bit slow, but it was packed because of Superbowl.

Overall, I'd definitely visit again.

Yogi's is the first place we stop anytime we're in Bloomington. We found the place years ago, and we never miss it when we visit.

It's got a convenient location and is fairly updated, unlike a lot of other places in the college city. The staff is generally young guys and girls who go to school there, and that makes us drunk old guys happy.

The food is actually pretty good. If we want something that's not on the menu, we've never been told we can't have it, they're always willing to work with us. Obviously, we don't ask for something inappropriate, but if we want BBQ pork on the nachos instead of ground beef or chicken, they oblige.

The beer selection gets better every time we visit. It used to be bottles only, but now they have many items on draft.

Being in a college town, the prices are usually very reasonable. I always look forward to going back.

Yogi's is a sports bar with a large tap selection. I guess if you want to watch sports on huge TVs surrounded by under grads then you should go here. Otherwise stay away, particularly on weekends.

They do stock an impressive selection of draft beers but the focus is on quantity over quality. Sure, you can get a Stoned Arrogant Bastard or a Rogue Dead Guy but many of the taps are pouring macro dreck and weak imports like Newcastle or Bass. Another problem is that the lines won't always be clean on the more exotic selections. On the up side they do carry Bloomington Brewing Company's Quarrymen Pale on nitro and they have a large selection of bottled beers.

The food is bland fried bar grub. Nothing great here although they do get it out of the kitchen quickly. The buffalo chips (waffle fries) are probably the best appetizer. Avoid the sandwiches and salads unless expiring of starvation.

The service is what you would expect from this kind of joint. Slow on busy nights but not unreasonably so.

If you want a large draft selection at a sports bar its the only real option in Bloomington. That being said its pretty poor for a beer bar. Go to Finch's if you want good beer and conversation.

Great tap selection here. Many Indiana brews and many from other places. They have daily specials that are incredible! Very happy they have Alpha King and Bell's seasonals.

One thing that I have to tip my hat to is that they have Old Style in a can - it's a Cubs bar.

It does have a college atmosphere because it is the closest bar to Indiana University. Pool tables, two bars, booths, patio with retractable roof (for summer). When it's crowded it's fun, when it's dead it's still fun. Lots of tv's that show sports. Trivia game. Ivy on the back wall (Wrigley Field).

The food is decent. It's typical bar grub although the portions are good sized and they do offer a few green options. The wings are good, and if you try the Big Red sauce it's hot - not BW3's Blazin' hot, but hot nonetheless. Their late night menu isn't bad either - finger foods/snacks.

Not that anyone under 21 would be reading this, but they do have some of the toughest doormen in Bloomington.

Come here and stay for an afternoon! If you're in the back bar you can't really see outside so you lose track of time quickly. Easy to be late for class. Don't miss Dyngus Day either. Go Cubs! and go to Yogi's!!!

Probably the biggest and definitely the best tap selection in Bloomington. A large place with lots of nooks and crannies, it has an outdoor patio with retractable roof (and winter heating), smaller dining areas that are kid-friendly through the early evening, a smaller bar area that seats about 15-20, and a large bar area (over 21 only) that has pool tables, video games, darts, fooseball, etc. There are large screen TVs throughout that are tuned to whatever sports are currently being broadcast, as well as trivia.

This place is very close to the Indiana University campus and gets crowded late at night and before and after football and basketball games. It is about a 4-5 block walk from the bar to either stadium.

The beers are kept in good shape - I've been here many times and never have been served an off pint. The selection focusses on local and regional micros - particularly Upland, BBC, and Bell's, but there are brews from other areas of the country as well. I love doing successive comparisons of 3 Floyd's Alpha King, Two-Hearted Ale, and Upland Dragonfly. Several tasty imports and some macros for the sheep round out the list. Almost all are $3-4 per pint.

The food is good - pub fare for the most part, but the barbeque and salads are killer. I've had good and bad service there, but usually the bad service is associated with a large crowd. The beer IQ of the wait staff is pretty low in general.

All in all a good place to check out a game or have a meal and a few pints. Definitely the best place to go if you're visiting Bloomington.

Pint of Alpha King in hand, I peruse the room.

Spiky-haired water-drinker running the pool tables.
Meat Market sign accurately depicting gene pool.
Darker, separated liquor-oriented bar.
A hopping row of taps and tenders barring. One full wall of handles that continues on the next wall.

All of my close college buddies drinking good beer.

I'd put this place in the middle grading of beer bars; there's plenty of taps to be had, yet most are relatively "meh". I didn't look at the bottle selection when I grabbed my pitcher of (remarkably fresh) FFF Alpha King. Nice, collegiate-y atmosphere and NO SMOKING. Thank you Bloomington. The "beer bar" for B-Town.

I can safely say that Yogi's was my favorite classroom of all time. My senior policy seminar met here and the prof would buy the first round. It has hte largest tap selection in Bloomington and there actually some decent ones. Beyond that the prices are incredible. $3.50 for a pint of Young's Chocolate Stout, Anchor Steam or SN Pale ale or Porter. That alone would do it. Yes, it can get quite busy in the eveing, but there are plenty of areas to sit and relax with a group. Probably the best place in town to relax with a pint.

I am in Bloomington 4-6 days a week, and I frequent this place. It is my favorite dining/drinking establishment in Bloomington. My own recollection of "college bars" is that they have a captive audience that is incredibly transient, so they can get away with bad food and marginal service. Happily, Yogi's is not one of those places (although there are many in Bloomington that exemplify the bad college bar experience).

The food here is quite good. It is "bar-food," but is executed quite well. If you like wings, there is no better place to go in Bloomington. The service is also attentive and friendly, and prices for food and drink are quite reasonable.

They have over 40 beers on draft....which is tough to beat. As the other review says, it does get quite crowded at night, and parking can be a problem. However, it is a great place to spend a few hours in the afternoon and early evening. There is pool, darts, and a big screen TV.

There is no other restaurant in Bloomington where I'd prefer to spend a late lunch/early dinner.
