Notes:
The original Benedictine Brewery beer. Not conceived according to any particular style, it is best described a Belgian dark with a Northwest influence. The aroma carries a bit of yeast and roastiness. A complex of dark flavors is overlaid slightly with hops, and caramel subtly emerges in the finish. Surprisingly light on the palate for its dark color. Excellent with meals. ABV about 7.2%.

375 ml capped bottle. No date, but picked up at the brewery a few weeks ago
Pours a very dark brown, with thick layer of khaki colored head of tiny bubbles that forms a creamy layer. Excellent head retention. Aroma and taste is a nice bready malt flavor with a touch of roast and earthy spice, drier finish. Lighter body, but extremely smooth mouthfeel.

On tap at the Benedictine. Rich dark mahogany color, decent off white lacing, impressive carbonation. The nose is caramel and nutty mollasses, with a tinge of honey. The mouthfeel is a tad thinner than I expected for such a rich dark ale, but it is still OK. The taste is hop forward, shifting into malt and some distinct bitter honey and hazelnut, finishing on a woodsy herbal freshness.
This is a very tasty, and very unique, dark ale. Love it!

Very dark appearance with slight white head. Aroma is a mild malt. Taste is a mild malt with a pleasant coffee accent. Texture is a little watery but well worth trying.
