A - Cloudy copper with a foamy head that leaves lots of lacing down the sides of the glass. The head becomes a mountain of foam.
S - Hops, grapefruit, pine and oranges.
T - Caramel malt, hops, grapefruit, pine needles, orange pith, pineapple and a bit of watery presence. Aftertaste is of bitter grass, aspirin and a touch of lingering pine.
M - Medium to thick, a tad harsh, not terribly refreshing.
D - I don't know why, but this one didn't really do it for me. This is an example where the sum of the parts is less than the whole.

Back when this place had a rad brewer, they made some great beers. This was a very good one. A mixture of orange and copper appearance, 1/2" white head. Aroma was equal parts pine, orange and grapefruit.
Taste still kicked down the hop notes, as it continues on, it isn't as impressive with its C hop and maybe simcoe flavors, the malt heft starts to creep downbottle.
Nonetheless, this was pretty much the best stuff around in Stockton back in the day.

Received from alano - A standup trader and guy who should be congratulated for just taking the grueling California Bar Exam.
A - A murky, almost dirty golden brown color with a nice foam head that dissipated to a little bit of stick on the side.
T - Very citrusy, maybe even a little bit of mango in this one. Very smooth and sweet tasting with some mild piney hop taste and a nice bitter resiny bite. Good stuff.
M - Appropriate amount of carbonation in a smooth brew makes this a great, medium bodied drink.
D - Did the bomber no problem, would go back for more.

On tap @ brewery, figured I should check it out at the source before they trash the place and recipes.
Nice standard copper appearance, great citrus and pine aroma. Good bitter beer with ample hopping. Average malt body, neither too heavy nor massively unbalanced. Hit a weird snag midway where the hops gave way to bitterness, but overall, $4 a pint, decent deal.

Poured from a 22 oz. bottle into a pint glass. Thanks for the extra, Azureoval!
Appearance: Pours a golden tangerine color with a white pillowy head. Nice retention, and it makes me happy to see such a pretty head last. Great sticky lace.
Smell: Citrus and pine hops.
Taste: Strong citrusy hops start out right away, leading with a grapefruit flavor. Piney notes follow. Malt never really gets started here, just hops all the way. Quite a bitter bite at the end, just to remind me that this is all hops.
Mouthfeel: Great creamy feel here. I could tell it was going to be creamy and smooth from the moment I saw the pour. Medium carbonation, slightly dry finish. Medium body.
Drinkability: I never have a hard time drinking a silky smooth IPA. Not as complex as some others, but very nice nonetheless.

Thanks to wavers1 for this awesome extra.
Pours a clear amber with a cream colored head. Some lacing.
Smells of piney and floral hops, light citrus with some grapefruit-like bitterness, and slightly sweet caramel malt.
Taste is bitter citrus and pine mixed with a fairly heavy sweet caramel malt backbone. Mix of sweet malt and bitter grapefruit citrus at the finish. Lingering bitterness.
Medium body with medium to low carbonation. Slightly dry finish.
Very similar aroma and flavor as Uberhoppy, but paired down in intensity. Solid IPA with a unique sweetness to it.

Fresh from Perry's Liquors, shared with newtonty.
Pours a clear amber with a bright, white creamy head with nice lacing.
Smells of big citrus, antiseptic and spicy malts.
The taste reflects the nose. Big, chunky and almost waxy moutheel of bittering citrus, hints of honey and a spicy caramel base hidden very lightly.
Very nice - recommended!

On tap at Gourmet Haus Staudt. Hazy orange-amber, raw and unrefined appearance with a dense frothy two finger head that retains well.
Very perfumey hop aroma. Grapefruit, orange and pine. Only a faint whiff of malt despite the dark body.
Big citrusy hop flavors wash the palate, grapefruit being especially prominent. One of the most grapefruity hop flavors I've come across, in fact. Very dry with a hefty, oily, chewy body, perhaps a bit heavier than I like for a single IPA. Juicy, citrusy mid-palate but ultimately dry with a bitter kick in the finish. Lingering pine and grapefruit flavors. This is excellent, very happy to find it on tap locally.

22oz bottle that landed today, thanks Costa.
Pours clear copper with a one inch head of dense white. Plenty of layered lacing as the glass goes and a solid skim coat on the surface for the duration.
Aromatics lead off with pine boughs, tangerine pith, and grapefruit oil. Light malt follows through along with a chaulky promise. Slightly stinging and pungent. Spicey but lacking some floral finesse.
Medium bodied with a crisp, drying mouthfeel.
Grapefruit, pine resin, and a hint of pithy orange start the palate. A firm, bitter backbone quickly steps forward and traces of plump malt follows through.
Finishes with a lingering, drying, bitterness, pine-rubbed grapefruit, and a hint of warmth.
A good, straight-on West coast IPA. The nose is lacking the blast of floral, tropical essence found in the best examples, but certainly quaffable and an easy drinker.

received this one from saulcharlesworth in the under 100 BIF not too long ago, thanks!!
a- copper to amber with a sudsy looking off white head, typical average lacing. not bad.
s- almost musty, barnyard stench. straw, hay, grass, dirt, etc. some hidden hops, citrus aroma and pine needles.
t&m- after the not so great smell the taste surprised me. malty and sweet yet very bitter and citrusy. i didnt pick up much grass and hay taste here, its well balanced between the floral hops and citrusy zest. quite a pleasant surprise!!
d- surprising and different, wouldnt mind to try this one again. better than most crappy, peatmoss tasting IPA's out there.

I'm really becoming a big fan of these folks beers. They (this and Uberhoppy) all seem to have big pine notes and very over the top hoppy, with just a tinge of malt, and if you like that balance, you'll like these guys. This is a standard, and at a high standard, the typical west coast IPA, very drinkable at +7%, highly recommended. Get over the other trendy west coasters(RR, Stone) and branch out, these guys can make some beer, but brew in Stockton, don't hold it against them.

Bottle picked up at the brewpub. Pours orange in color with a plentiful head. Good retention and extensive amounts of web-like lacing left behind. Aroma is full of tropical fruits, lots of pineapple and papaya, all balancing out with a bit of pine. Lots of crisp hoppiness, only the hint of malts that gets lost in fruit. The flavor itself centers more around a crisp pine note, not too resinous, with an herbal taste. Full hop bitterness on the midpalate, then the finish has a mild cookielike malts and herbal hops. Medium bodied with a full, prickly carbonation. This is a good IPA, nice hop notes, not too much malts. The hop profile could be more complex, but this is fairly good.

Poured from a bottle into a snifter. beer is clear and copper in color. Carbonation is mild. Forms a thick white head that falls away quickly leaving a single layer of bubbles and a lot of lacing. Looks good.
Malt and pine aroma. Good mild aroma.
Medium bodied beer. Good hop flavor, mild bitterness and this overall sweetness. beer is pretty unoffensive. I think the bitterness should be higher and the sweetness should be lessened. Second taste, still too sweet but overall its OK.
