Wow! So proud to come back to the 209 and find this beer.
Appearance- good! Nice color. Perfect liveliness. Not as lacy as I like but really quite nice.
Smell-absolutely perfect. Honey, grain, alcohol. Perfectly balanced. So wonderful.
Taste- complex. Fantastic. Really, I could describe this but it would just repeat any good review of a belgian.
Mouf-decent
drinkability- hella

Red brown with a small head and a bit of lacing
smell is an azimg combo between hops, fruit and sour ale yeast
taste is first citrus fruit, then berries, then a bitter, dry beautiful hop finish. - not perfect, but close enough
wow! What an incredible surprise, the best Belgian ipa i've had so far, from a virtually unknown brewer! kicks the shit out of houblon chouffe in my opinion. a beautiful beautiful beer!

Drunk twice, first at City Beer and again today at the Toronado.
Pours a magnificent hazy orange with a very creamy white head and that produces a lot of lacing. The color of an IPA with the head of a Belgian. Really great looking.
Smell is the least appealing aspect of this beer, though that may be partially dictated by the fact the "Toronado funk," and it was still rather nice. The smell is predominantly that of the Westmalle yeast--there is some banana, clove and caramelized sugar along with a hit of sweet citrus from the hops. No alcohol present whatsoever.
The taste is delicious and unique. The first thing you notice is an in-your-face smack of bitterness, but your mouth becomes quickly accustomed to that. The flavors that follow are surprisingly well harmonized, and really delicious. Tons of sweet citrusy hops and Belgian yeastiness work together very nicely. Mardarin orange, passion fruit and pineapple from the hops complement the banana yeastiness. Nice.
Mouthfeel is creamy and lightly carbonated, with a medium body. Close to spot on, but I would like just a bit more carbonation.
Incredibly drinkable, especially given the ABV.
Love this one.

On tap at City Beer Store. A Belgian version of Uberhoppy. So, it's easily the most American hops that I've ever tasted in a Belgian-style ale. Do the West Coast DIPA flavors mesh with the strong Belgian flavors? Not exactly. Is it still delicious? Yes. The hops are strong, bitter and very likely drown out a good portion of the Belgian yeast flavors. The Belgian flavors in there are nice - earth, fruity malt, burnt sugar. The beer is still fairly dry, perhaps not quite as dry as Uber Hoppy but still better than a lot of DIPAs. I love Valley; they refuse to be boring.
