Gose with blackberries, blackcurrants and black sea salt.

Based more off of Nicolas Poussin’s 17th century painting as well as the 15th century medieval fresco in the Båstad church than the on the many exaggerated versions of his torture. The patron Saint of Sailors had his stomach slit open and his intestines wound around a Windlass. Blackberries, Blackcurrants and Black Sea Salt combine for an approachable sour with Cabernet Sauvignon notes and blood-like color and viscosity. Jammy, earthy, cassis, light brine and back of the palate tartness.

Served in a pilsner goblet glass.

Appearance: Deep berry colored red coming off looking almost like a Rioja with a bubbly pink head rising just about a notches below one finger's length off the body.

Smell: Fruity aroma which smells like a sangria hovering the nostrils.

Taste: Sour and tarty but subtle at the same time. Raspberry and blackberry feel, not too sweet and surprisingly refreshing.

Mouth: Sticky as fudge, sweet yet sour finish which lingers to your cheeks.

Overall: I normally don't chase sours but when you see the owner of the brewery drinking this...it's gotta be good..and it is. Love it.

Excellent head production, although it fairly quickly recedes to nothing. Vibrant clear body, dark red in hue.

Sour, jammy, and musty nose. Blackberry, raspberry, salt, red grape.

A touch slick on the palate. Sour, with pungent earthy berry notes. Very salty, in particular on the finish.

Undated can into pint glass. Pours a raspberry-pink color with a brief light pink head. No lacing. Initial impression is berries, a touch of salt, and a refreshing tartness. Mouthfeel is medium, with prickly carbonation. Finish is more berries, with a lingering tartness. Overall, it's probably pretty good for the style, but I will admit that I'm not a fan of sours and my scoring reflects that bias.

L:. Pours a layered different colors ranging from dark purple to lighter pink or red. A bit of an odd look for this beer.

S:. Jammy, with notes of blackberry and strawberry, a note of tart and sour, with a hint vinegar. If you like jam you will like this.

T:. Jammy, with notes of blackberry, some other berries, with notes of tart and sour and a slight hint of vinegar. Quite sweet but also has a decent tartness.

F:. Smooth carbonation, a bit puckering .

O:. This is a unique hose that is quite tasty.

16 ounce can into a stange glass. Had 11/4/20.

Pours a good looking deep pink color, cloudy, with a two inch plus head of creamy pink foam with good retention and a good amount of foamy lacing. Aromas of currants, funk, a general berry aroma, some grapes and cherries, light malt, light sea salt. Smells lightly sour and tart, has an earthy and mineral like aroma. Flavors of currants, blackberries, some lemon, some funk, light malt, a little red wine, sea salt that shows mostly in the aftertaste and lingers. Again, tastes lightly sour and tart, has an earthy flavor. Smooth, a very good light to medium body, well carbonated.

The currants are the star here, and everything else is successfully designed to complement and enhance them. A really well executed beer. Very enjoyable.

16 oz can

Pours slightly hazy strawberry pink, pinkish white head dissipates slowly to a bit of lacing.

Aroma is of tart citrus and berry.

Flavor is of lime citrus, blackberry, grape, maybe some melon, cracker malt, and sea salt.

Medium body, minimal carbonation.

This is nice and refreshing, good flavor that is tart but actually pretty mild in the sourness department. Goes down really easy. Very thirst-quenching. Definitely worth trying.

Pours an opaque purple with a pinkish finger of head. It doesn't stick around for very long.

Nose doesn't tell much of a tale. Get tartness, some fruit jamminess, perfume floral notes.

Taste is where it comes in strong. Berry jam, sour, tart, and bright. A touch of savoriness with a nice cracker malt background. Mild floral notes reminiscent of lilies. Very refreshing and balanced.

Mouthfeel is thin to medium with medium carbonation. Lively, sharp, and crisp.

Overall, this is honestly a great summer beer. Crushable, refreshing, and different. Had this a few times and this is one of my favorite Nightmare brews due to its simplicity. A great gose and an interesting take on the style.
