473ml can poured into tulip while my steak rests.
Pours a clear golden yellow with one finger of off-white head that leaves some hilly countryside lace as it recedes.
Smells of mild orange and grapefruit citrus, baking bread, faint muddled tropical fruit sweetness, wet stone and some dank piney hops.
Tastes of biscuity caramel malt, more juicy citrus, mango, pineapple, flinty water and more sticky pine.
Feels deceptively light. Medium bodied with fizzy carbonation. Finishes dry.
Verdict: Highly recommended. A bright, cheerful IPA that sneaks an extra percentage of alcohol right past your taste buds.

Single from Cabin in Calgary. Moderately hazy pale orange/golden pour -1 finger white head.
Super piney on the nose, only hints of citrus, hoppy.
Taste of grapefruit rind, pine, a bit dank and hints of sweat. Striking well balanced bitterness.
Medium mouthfeel - mouth coating lingering bitterness. Nice.

Poured from a howler from The Brewer's Apprentice.
Appearance - Pours a pale copper with four fingers of frothy white head.
Smell - citrus, tropical, piney, leafy, and earthy hops followed by orange, grapefruit peel, citrus peel, bready malts, and earthy yeast.
Taste - citrus, tropical, piney, leafy, and earthy hops followed by the orange, grapefruit and citrus peel. The brew is then finished off by the bready malts and earthy yeast.
Mouthfeel - Medium bodied with moderate carbonation. Finishes sticky with the hops lingering.
Overall - For my first offering from Cabin Brewing, this is a very flavourful brew that is welcomed amongst the copious amounts of Cowtown breweries. This blends two different IPA styles (NE IPA and classic West coast IPA) which makes it a brew to definitely try.

473ml can - nice to finally see some packaged product make it to YEG! Made in Calgary? The name should be Sunshine Snow.
This beer pours a mostly clear, pale golden yellow colour, with three fingers of puffy, finely foamy, and mildly creamy off-white head, which leaves some decent lifting fog bank profile lace around the glass as it very slowly seeps away.
It smells of gritty and grainy cereal malt, muddled domestic citrus rind, some stoney flintiness, and more leafy, weedy, and piney green hop bitters. The taste is grainy and crackery pale malt, some orange, red grapefruit, and lemon citrus peel, a damp minerality, and more earthy, weedy, and resinous piney verdant hoppiness.
The carbonation is adequate in its palate-pleasing frothiness, the body a solid medium weight, and generally smooth, with perhaps a touch of hop astringency taking things down a notch or so from the ideal here. It finishes trending dry, the gentle bitterness taking us into the lingering territories.
Overall - this comes across as a sort of blend of West and NE style IPAs, so I suppose I should drag out my now aging trope about a Canadian IPA. We (by we, I mean our brewers) take the best from both worlds, and create something, if not better, just as damned good. Definitely worth checking out.

Had a pint in the tap room (which, by the way, is one of the nicest looking taprooms this side of the Rocky Mountains)
Great looking copper coloured beer with a decent head.
Very little bitterness despite also having a NE pale ale on tap. I was expecting a more west coast ipa but was pleasantly surprised by the New England style (to me) that this beer seems to replicate.
Lots of fruity, juicy hops and a decent malt backbone.
A great start to a brewery that I’m sure will deliver great things in the future.
