I got a growler of this at black forest yesterday during winter fest. I was looking for a nice easy drinking beer and this seemed to fit the bill. Poured from a brown 64oz Black Forest growler into a pint glass.

A- This beer pours a dark amber red color with one and a half fingers worth of off white head that died down to a really thing ring after a couple minutes. It left a little lacing but not much.

S- The aroma is full of caramel malts with a good amount of floral hops at the end.

T- The taste is pretty similar to the aroma. The caramel malts dominate this brew, they are sweet, but not too sweet. There's good amount of floral and citrus hops in this red that make it a little hoppy for its style, but it's not overly bitter, it helps balance all the sweetness from the malts.

M- Medium bodied with medium carbonation.

D- This brew is quite drinkable. It is balanced well and doesn't have any off flavors. This beer goes down quite smooth and has enough flavor to keep me interested. I split most of this growler with my brother but a full one to myself wouldn't be a problem.

Overall I thought this was a pretty nice red. It was on par for its style and had a great balance of caramel malts and floral hops. This is my go to beer at black forest when I want a sessionable beer. This brew could hold its own against most reds on the market.

Reviewed on 6/30/2010. On tap at the brewpub. Pours a dark brown with a thick off white head. Aroma of floral hops, citrus, and caramel malt. Flavor of plenty of hops (bitter and citrusy) with jam, light fruits, and sweet malt. A very good amber ale.
