Had this at a bottle share on 2-23-24.
On a stout heavy tasting this one stood out as a nice straight-ahead no-frills porter. Medium roast was more than the usual porter with a nice smoothness. I've seen it around for years, glad to have tried it!

Very dark, with a slight reddish tinge. Has a pleasing, creamy mouthfeel. Sweet, smooth, not very much of a roasted taste. The 9% ABV is well hidden. Overall, I was quite pleased: it was less heavy and less bitter than I expected. Would definitely try it again.

Appearance: Pours a very dark, almost ruby blackened color with a minimal head. SRM of 23. (3.75)

Aroma: Stronger aromas of roast, chocolate, dark grains, and sweetness. (3.75)

Flavor: Strong dark flavors o f rich chocolate, smooth caramel, dark grains and mild roast. Finishes sweet. (3.75)

Feel: Medium to heavier bodied, average carbonation and a smooth, sweet finish. (3.50)

Compared to Zwyiec Porter 1/2023: Pours lighter, milder head. Stronger aromas. More milk chocolate and caramel. Less dark malt and roasted black licorice.

Overall: First try at this one and it's a good Baltic Porter. Smooth and sweet chocolate and some caramel. Leans sweeter and smoother than Zywiec, but I think Zyweic wins the contest. (Rating: 3.68)

Delicious porter, this a beer for true beer lovers. If you are a big fan of beers like Corona, Bud Light, etc., you probably won't like this. Rich flavor and mouthfeel, a decent amount of alcohol without tasting like it's been fortified. A few of these is enough for the night.

I got a bottle of this beer off the single shelf from the Woodman's in Onalaska, Wisconsin just outside of La Crosse. It poured a nearly opaque dark with thin off white ring head that is not leaving much lace. The scent had roast malt base with subtle chocolate and smoke highlights. The taste was nicely balanced and easy to drink with roast malt presence with dark chocolate flare. The mouthfeel was medium in body and had good carbonation. Overall it is a good beer.

Black Boss Porter from Browar Witnica. 500 mL bottle purchased from Shangy’s (18/9/21), Emmaus, PA. $ 2.64 (including tax) ($0.156/oz). Imported by ARKO LLC. Stored at room temperature in store and at 40 degrees after purchase. Reviewed 27/12/21. Note that I use DD/MM/YY protocol.
No obvious date but stamped on the back label is “PO#40012”. Served at 52.5 degrees in a hand washed and dried Jester King snifter. Final temperature 55.0 degrees.
Appearance – 4.
First pour – Deep Amber (SRM 15), clear.
Body – Ruby Brown (SRM 24), opaque. When rear-lite, ruby and translucent.
Head – Average (Maximum 3.5 cm, aggressive center pour), wheat, good retention, diminishing to a three to four mm crown and complete cap fed by moderate carbonation. Second pour produces a 1.7 cm head.
Lacing – Poor. Just a few tiny islands clinging to the glass.
Aroma – 4 – Initially a bit of char which quickly disappears leaving chocolate and aromatic pipe tobacco (Flying Dutchman). No hops, no yeast.
Flavor – 3 – Begins with slightly bitter chocolate and neither char nor Flying Dutchman. No hops, no yeast. No ethanol (9.4 % ABV, as marked on container) taste or aroma. A moderate gastric warming occurs but doesn’t build. No dimethylsulfide or diacetyl.
Palate – 3.5 – Medium, a little more viscous than water, soft carbonation.
Final impression and summation: 3.5 (After deducting 0.25 point for no readable date) Not bad overall, but certainly not exciting – there were two highlights for me – Flying Dutchman on the aroma and the beautiful ruby body when rear-lite.

Looks just like a Porter should. Aroma sweet, malty, tinge of alcohol. First sip I was surprised at how sweet it was. Sweet up front then the dark grains. The sweetness masks the 9.4 alcohol. I like this beer.

Poured from fridge temp. Pours jet black with a minimal amount of head. Nose is immediately full of burnt wood, roasted malts, black licorice, molasses, and cardboard. The taste follows the nose. Lots of molasses, toffee, roasted malts, black licorice, pipe tobacco, coffee grounds, and some nice dark fruits like figs and raisins. Mouthfeel is medium bodied. Overall, a super enjoyable porter.
