look: 4.25 | smell: 3.75 | taste: 4 | feel: 4 | overall: 4

A: Pours an almost opaque extremely dark brown (approaching black) in color with moderate amounts of active visible carbonation rising along the edges of the glass and moderate garnet red highlights. The beer has a three finger tall dense foamy tan head that slowly reduces to a large mottled patch of medium thick film surrounded by a medium thick ring at the edges of the glass. Moderate amounts of lacing are observed.

S: Moderate aromas of roasted malts, cocoa, and roasted coffee with a light to moderate amount of sweetness and a hint of anise.

T: Upfront there is a moderate flavor of roasted malts with a light to moderate amount of underlying grainy + caramel sweetness. That is followed by light to moderate flavors of roasted coffee and cocoa. Hints of anise/licorice in the finish. Light amounts of roasty bitterness and a light amount of lingering sweetness in the finish.

M: Slightly heavier than medium bodied with moderate amounts of carbonation. Smooth.

O: Easy to drink with very well hidden alcohol. Enjoyable and with enough complexity to keep it interesting.

Poured from a brown 16.9 oz. bottle. Has a damn near black color with a 1/2 inch head. Smell is of roasted malts, some chocolate. Taste is roasted malts, licorice, a bit of sweetness, alcohol is very well hidden. Feels medium bodied in the mouth and overall is an enjoyable beer.

Poured from a 500 ml. bottle into a Peroni pilsner glass. PO#11051, whatever that means. A: Pours dark, dark ruby, almost purple. Looks almost black in the glass, but when held to a light, looks a crystal clear ruby-amber color. Big frothy 3 finger head that sticks around. S: Strong dark fruit: cherry, red grape, plum. A bit of alcohol, vinous, sweet. A bit of dark chocolate & roast. Mostly sweet dark fruit. T: Like the smell; sweet, dark fruits, winey, followed by some bitter roast and dark chocolate. Not a hint of alcohol. Reminiscent of dark chocolate covered cherries. F: Feels on the thin side of medium, but the carbonation adds a frothy, slightly creamy, smooth mouthfeed. Goes down easy, a bit too easy. O: At $1.99 for an Imperial Pint, my expectations were low. I'm not familiar with the Baltic Porter style, but I do like porters, and this beer really blew me away, though it's unlike any American porters that I've had. Very fruit forward, it would make a good desert beer. At 9.4% ABV, it's dangerously drinkable; should be a sipper, but it's hard to not keep going back for more. I'm quite impressed by my first foray into Polish craft beer, & will definitely be picking a couple more of these up.

Black pour, brown when up to the light on the side, thin ring of head on the top, beige. Aroma of chocolate and licorice, dark fruit, prune, bitter.

Taste had enough chocolate and 2 row to counteract the bitterness, alcohol and dark prune, licorice. A drinkable example of a style I'm not always keen on.

Poured into snifter. It poured a dark mahogany with ruby hues and a thin tan head and lacing. The smell featured coffee and malt. The taste was more complex: dark coffee, caramel, nuts, and malt. As it warmed, it became sweeter and it did not have a very bitter finish. The body of this porter is rather thin with light carbonation. The 9.4% ABV is rather subdued but it sneaks up on you. Overall, this is a pleasant, easy drinking porter.

Pours a dark oily brown, not as black as I anticipated. Head is fine, quickly dissipating with minimal lacing.

Smell was chocolate and ripe fruit. Taste likewise was chocolate with lots of dark fruit; plums, prunes, and molasses. A bit too sweet but not cloyingly so. Very little alcohol taste and the finish is heavy on the malts and plum/molasses.

Mouthfeel is fine carbonation and a little slick, coating the tongue.

Overall it's a good beer, but not great. Too sweet and a bit one dimensional.

L: Pours brilliant brown with bright ruby highlights while producing a 2” moderately persistent cream colored foam cap.

S: Dark dried fruit suggesting prune, some dark sugars and dark malts.

T: Dark dried fruit and very rich malt flavors with honey caramel sweetened dark bread crust and a trace of grain. The malt flavors are medium high, the hop flavors and bitterness are medium low, the fruit flavors are mild. No rough edges – no burnt or harsh roast flavors.

F: Clean and smooth with medium full body and medium low carbonation. Hides the 9.4% alcohol well.

O: A nice, rich, easy to drink Baltic Porter.

Very smooth porter, milder than I expected. I was under the impression that Baltic Porters as a group were much stronger than regular Porters, but that's not true of this. The flavor is very appealing. After drinking most of the bottle, I checked the ABV, and was surprised to see the 9+% - it felt sessionable, and I would have guessed 5%. Nice porter, not remarkable, but quite good.

Poured from a 16.9 OZ bottle into a pint glass. the bottle cap is all gloss black. the appearance is like a dark coffee color. The aroma is full of malt with a big dose of black licorice. The taste is like the aroma and the alcohol is very well hidden. Overall, an really outstanding Baltic Porter. This is becoming a very sought after style by me.

Poured into an ale glass from a 12 oz bottle.

Color is dark brown with a thin khaki head. Smell is nice - roasted coffee and dark chocolate - like a mocha. Flavor is a good balance of the dark roasted malt and honey. The ABV is hidden well. Body is medium with moderate carbonation. Overall, a great value for a really good beer.
