A: Pours up a muddy brown with a very weak white head
S: Chocolate notes, caramel, toffee on the nose
T: Strong caramel, toffee and chocolate backbone, not getting the American hop aggression suggested kind of feels like a low ABV English old ale, finishes with a nice but indistinct tartness
M: Medium body
O: I can’t really recommend this, it’s not bad per se, but I can’t think of a person or situation that I would recommend this to or for…

From notes taken 05/10/17:
Temporary review
Brewed late 2014 or early 2015, should have enjoyed it sooner, I owe it to this beer. I thought it would be okay to neglect it for a while given the ABV, but I wasn’t really thinking about the hops. Will keep an eye out for it and fix my mistake.
Deep honey-amber, cloudy up top, a little more clear and golden with amazing chunky haze, almost as much of it as there is light shining through. A fine, delicate, but watery and heavy head of good retention, beige-white, almost no lace. Rich and semi-sweet cooked vegetables, raisins, fresh bread, deteriorated hops, light vinegar, a little booze. As it mellows a little it is more like a sparkling apple cider to the nose, with hints of caramel. Much easier to drink than a similar beer, say with 2-3% lower ABV, aged this long. Still, I would not recommend doing that and I am compelled now to review fresh. Palate is caramel, honey, candy sugar, sour apple, menthol, Band-Aid, extremely deteriorated hops verging on wet paper or dare I say it, cat urine (no, I’ve never actually tasted that before). With a more saturated palate, earthiness kicks in which makes it a little more tolerable. Effervescent but still pleasantly creamy, light- to medium-bodied mouthfeel.

Pours hazy tripel style with very decent initial head.
Aroma is very hop heavy, but the clue is in the name. Certainly an inviting citrus freshness about it.
Taste is hoppy, bags of alcohol on the tongue, yeast and watermelon strangely.
Overall a solid tripel, needs a touch of malt in the mix for me.

Hazy orange brown color with cream color cap and lacing.
Aroma of bread yeast with a slightly sharp agricultural tint that actually complements rather well. There is something richly spicy about it that's present yet restrained.
Taste on entry is yeasty bready combined with a spiciness that doesn't really jump out like a lot of other Belgians. Mid palate has a tingly richness that I suppose is due to a hop/carbonation combination. This one is more low key than I usually find in 8% Belgian Pales, its as if the brewer is trying to showcase the hops instead of the spices. "Belgian yeast driven flavors combined with an American assertive hoppiness" are words on the label and yes, that pretty well covers it.
Medium texture with balancing carbonation.
Is an assertively hopped Belgian what I really want? Well, if I did this one would do, but for my tastes there are just a wee too many flavors at play here. Reminds me of the au courant chef who decided to send out my steak glazed with a raspberry-balsamic vinegar sauce that wasn't disclosed on the menu nor was I informed by the waiter. It was just a spur of the moment thing while the chef was experiencing a burst of inspiration. Just because a thing can be done doesn't mean it should be and not all ideas are good ones. Which is a long way of saying I think this is a good effort but headed in the wrong direction.

Poured from an 11.2oz bottle into a tulip glass.
A: The beer is a dark gold color with a short white head that fades quickly and leaves a thin lace on the glass.
S: The aroma contains Belgian yeast, fruit, caramelized malts and some hops.
T: The taste starts out bready with flavors of Belgian yeast and a hearty malt character. Then some sweet flavors of caramel, candy sugar and fruit come in. The hops presence is mild but complementary and brings some balance. The after-taste is slightly sweet and slightly bready.
M: A little crisp and a little smooth, medium body, medium carbonation, finish is slightly sticky.
O: A little tasty, goes down ok, not too filling, good kick, decent representation of style, it’s a decent beer but there are better choices available within the style.

Looks nice, with a full head of soapy foam and a golden haze. It does not deliver though: it is branded as an IPA, but the hop profile tends to stay low. It is more like a BSPA, like it is categorized here. A decent one, but let's face it: it fades in comparison to a Duvel.

Hazy pale yellow colour, long lasting foam. No date of any kind on the 750mL bottle. Oh, and it's an oozer.
Smells of bubblegum, yeast, candi sugar, a touch of banana.
Taste reflects the smell but much milder than what I expected. Considering the ample abv. Don't get me wrong. It's a nice drop but shows up a tad under when it comes to value for the money. Worthy of a try.
