Poured from the 11.2 oz bottle into a big old goblet.
A - Dark mahogany in color, extremely fine carbonation gently rising to create a mocha
colored frosting of a head. Islands of lacing hang on the goblets wall.
S - Cherry wood, light roasted malts, milk chocolate, and a crazy hint of mint that stays even as the pour warms. The aromas are surprisingly devoid of the smoked character that is advertised. Gently rise of the nearly 10% ABV alcohol is masked in the fruity esters, nice touch.
T - Lightly smoked maltiness, lead the way, some toffee, light brown sugar and a spicy bite start things off. A thread or earthiness stitch together a group of disparate flavors in need of some harmony. The total package does fall well into the Belgian stout style, certainly not "export" in richness, but with enough complexity to keep you thinking.
M - Light touches are the theme with this beer, Gentle in its palate coating, the esters treat the roof of the mouth, with a minty warming evaporation. A quick and semi dry finish keep things moving along.
O - Belgian stout in body and style for sure, lighter, or delicate depending on your perspective. The body and viscosity are more like an English Brown. That said, the flavor profile, and nose, are from across the channel straight out of Belgium.
A nice treat to be had.
M -

This is a funky decieving brew. In my honest opinion it tastes less like an imperial stout and more like a brown ale.

For a brew with an ABV of 10% you can hardly tell. It has a smooth round yeasty bittery taste and a root beer brown/black appearance with solid lacing. If you're judging this as a stout than I understand it will be a let down, but if you're rating it simply as a beer (no more no less) it's quite nice. Still, I'm not sure how to properly approach this brew, only a detective can really crack this crime scene.

A: Not quite black, but very dark brown with a garnet hue. Thick, light khaki colored head that dissapated relatively quickly.

S: Sweet and sugary, Belgian yeasty, slight roast, no real smoke.

T: Sweet up from to bitter roasted malts, followed by a faint, lingering smokiness. Hot on the backend, but not bad for 10%.

M: Medium + body. Smooth and creamy.

O: Not a bad brew, but not a masterpiece either. Taste seemed to take a dive towards the end of the glass. I would drink again, but not sure if I would search high and low for it.
