I must say I was quite impressed with this beer. I see it's got some bad reviews, but since I've had my sample closer to the source, then maybe that's why my beer seemed great.
This beer looks like a good example of a lager beer. Massive amounts of bright white head, with an ultra clear and golden body. A small layer of lacing lasts all the way through my session.
Nothing really stands out as dominant in the way of aromas, but I detect a hay and herbal type of fragrance.
As far as tastes go, this has a sweet flavor right up front, but immediately gives way to a bitter herbal character.
This is a very smooth, well balanced, and quite drinkable beer. I'd have to say one must come over here to truly enjoy this beer. I can imagine it wouldn't fair well the journey across the pond back to the States.

I have to agree with some comments as this one seems pretty much underrated. I remember a fresh and clean aroma of malts and grassy hops with hints of lemon, almost Helles like. Sweet, malty and bitter in a balanced way, it made the views from Schindellegi to the lake even more pleasant. Light to medium body, very drinkable and satisfying with no apparent flaws. We had Schneiders, Fuller´s and other classics in the fridge plus most of the beer in Zurich was good, but for some reason this humble local lager stood up the most those days, and made a perfect accompaniment for the swiss/german sausages by the bbq. Don´t get the ratings wrong.

Brought a 500ml can of the Original Lager home to share with friends. The beer pours a typical clear golden color. Grain dominates the scent and taste. There is a hint of hops upfront, grainy and weak in the mouth, mostly carbonation. Mouthfeel is lighter in body and it finishes weak and uninspired. Overall is is just ok.

Very bland brew. Poured an amber orange color and created several inches of head, only to dissipate very quickly and unevenly. Sweet corn flavor which leaves your mouth quickly, no complexity. If you're looking for cheap beer to share with friends who don't particularly like beer, you could do far worse.

Hand-carried from Switzerland (thanks "N"). Phenomenal example of the style. Surprisingly thick head, clear amber yellow color. Great mouthful, with smooth, mild taste that was incredibly drinkable. No, you won't find complexity here; but compared to so many other Euro Pale Lagers, this one is a keeper. It would be one of my "regulars" if it were available in the US.

Had this while on a weekend trip to Switzerland while on vacation in Europe in summer 2008.
Pours a simple yellow, solid carbonation, huge head that laces and sticks around during the whole experience.
Aroma of malt and hops, typical but still authentic and without flaws. A delicate aroma and a similar flavor. A firm bitter finish and a clean crisp aftertaste of noble hops and genuine malt.
Like a lot of european lagers, these beers are great drinkers when in or around the source.

50cl Can, BBD 14th Sep 2014, poured into an Abbot Ale glass tankard on 15th Oct 2013: finally got my Swiss tick. My son-in-law had a business trip to Zurich and brought back this and another can for me.
Pale golden, clear, bright and clean looking, on top a thin white crown.
Slightly sweet in both aroma and taste: crisp and refreshing with all the usual lager/pilsner/helles attributes. Nothing to make it stand out from all the other brews in this style, but nothing wrong with it either.

Drank at a nice outdoor cafe in Geneva on a lovely spring day. The setting didn't save this beer.
Poured a very light yellow, very clear. Small white head. Spotty lacing. Light carbonation can be seen rising.
Aroma is somewhat "winey", quite sweet and some malts.
Taste was of light hops, sweet [almost a honey taste]. Sort of buttery. Very curious.
Mouthfeel was light and uninspiring.
Overall, probably OK in a pinch, but too many other beer out there to drink. Really not worth it.

I feel like I've run across an old nemesis here. A colleague of mine (thanks, James!) brought back to Moscow three brews he acquired in trade at an international conference. One those was Feldschlösschen, the A-B of Switzerland. When I lived in that fair country, I acquired a healthy hatred for their buy 'em and shut 'em down competition policy, and never liked their brews. Now, four years later, I decided to give them another chance.
Green 33 cl bottle with a green, silver and white label featuring what looks like the entrance to a castle (the name means "small field castle"), with barley stalks growing in the entrance. Ingredients conform to the purity law. Best before 11/16/06, I opened it on 5/20/06.
Pours a clear watery yellow under a 1.5 finger bubbly white head that fades fairly quickly to film and collar, leaving a lace string or two as it goes. The nose is strong and off-putting, full of adjunct malt and sickly sweet like overripe fruit. The mouth is very prickly and quite sticky, lying like a blanket on the tongue. Taste? Not much to like here. Rice flavor is strong and unpleasant. Add a touch of prune to go with the moldy bread. The hops are subdued, emerging only briefly in the finish as a slightly tinny bitter. Globetrotterette recognized it immediately, and wrinkled her nose in disgust. I managed to choke down about a third of the bottle before the rest was enjoyed by my drain. There may be worse beers in Russia than this one, but they are not as ubiquitous here as Feldschlösschen is in Switzerland. Shudder...

Review: Bottle of Feldschlösschen Original Pale Lager, 4.80%ABV
One doesn’t generally associate beer with the Swiss, Chocolate and cooking clocks yes, but good beer? Feldschlösschen is a beer that can take on the big guns of Germany, Britain and the rest in Europe and hold its head up high. Its a bloody good beer, with a nice taste and easy to drink.
Loved the appearance of pure clear yellow colour, bright and clean with a good big frothy head on top that stays with some lacing. Looks refreshing and tantalisingly good, saying "drink me, please!". Yeah that’s a cheesy line, Swiss style! A decent beer though.
The aroma is light and malty, on the grainy side but with a little sweetness.
Taste: What a light lager should be like; a nice crisp and smooth refreshing drink. Grain dominates the taste with very little bitterness.
Not complex, well balanced, and very easy to drink. Could drink these all day long, perfect for a light session with friends.

Sad to say, this is one of the weakest beers in all of CH and probably one of the most popular. Grain dominates the mouthfeel and it finishes weak and uninspired. I have had it on tap, in the can and bottle and nothing seems to help. Feldschlossen makes a hoppier brew called Hopfenperle that is quite tasty and worth seeking out. Sadly, it is not as easy to find as the original lager. There is a hint of hops upfront, grainy and weak in the mouth, mostly carbonation. This finish is just plain uninspiring with a gritty unbalanced combination of carbonation and slightly sour malt.
