What can we say about the Blonde on Blonde? Is it the upright way she holds that tray that makes us love her? Or is it the humongous hops sitting on top that gets our bubbles bursting? This PALE ALE was our 2nd beer made available for statewide distribution, and has been a growing hit among Connecticut consumers since 2010. In November of 2012, Blonde on Blonde won 1st place in the Pale Ale catrgory at the Great International Beer Festival in Providence, R.I. It is brewed with German hops for bitterness, Zythos and Cascade hops for aroma. Come try out this award-winning beer fresh on tap, or find it where you can locate it in the region by clicking here. Served short or tall. Oh Mama!

Poured from the tap into a pint glass. The appearance is a clear gold color with a small white head. The aroma is pine hops and some grass. The taste is like the nose but also has some caramel and citrus in the mix.

The CANQuest (tm) sometimes runs afoul of clinkers and this may be one such instance. I read where my local, in-person trader experienced "gushing" and I am hoping for the best with my own CAN.
From the CAN: "Something to ponder: What exactly is the young lady pondering? Is it the beer, the bitterness, the bubbles, the double gold award winning sessionable flavor, or perhaps just her own reflection in the mirror. I say: It
s worth looking into ..."
I Crack!ed it open & while I did not get any gushing, it was plenty loud! I decided to go with a gentle Glug to see what would happen & I got a good bit of foaming, but nothing else untoward. I wound up with three-plus fingers of dense, fluffy, bone-white head with good retention. Color was a slightly-hazy Golden-Amber (SRM = > 5, < 7) & I am willing to chalk it up to a chill haze as I keep my reefer rather cool. Nose was about as straight-up grapefruit as I have experienced in a while! Mouthfeel was medium-to-full with a good amount of carbonation. The taste was solid grapefruit an nothing more. The CAN marks it as an "India Pale Ale", but this site has it as an APA. It is passable as the former, but way too hoppy as the latter. Finish was dry & bitter, but unless you like grapefruit, it was a one-trick pony.

A thanks to the commander of the canquest, woodychandler, for this beer. Poured from a 12 oz. can. Despite zero agitation, this beer came gushing out of the can, resulting in a dark golden color with a 2 inch head. Smell is of citrus, some floral notes. Taste is tangerine, herbal, light spices, moderate bitterness for a pale ale. Feels medium/light bodied in the mouth and overall is a decent beer.

Had at City Steam brewery, overall a decent beer, but my last review indicated the DIPA had too few hops, so imagine how this tasted! It has a pretty inviting aroma which indicated herbal and citrus hops, but the taste didn't have the same characteristics. Maybe this was too old? Nice malt note, gentle sweetness, but the hops hide too much in the background. Could have been a lot better.
