Our brew master’s tribute to the ale that made Burton on Trent famous. An English style copper colored pale ale with medium body and a dry finish.

Saco Hill EPA

Poured amber-yellow, with a small head that quickly dissipated.

The aroma was generally hop-dominant - hop aromas, floral herbs, with a background
of comforting maltiness.

It has a sweet, drinkable taste, with more hops that standard for an SBC beer. (Progress!) Interestingly, it tasted like a weaker version of what it smelled; you can detect (faintly) floral flavors, the hop bitterness is weaker than expected. Imagine a strongly flavored EPA (Ipswich) watered down with a bud light. There is a good beer buried in here somewhere - ramp up the hop flavor, this could be a damn fine beer.

Mouthfeel was on the thin side, mildly carbonated, but was more or less very drinkable.

Overall, a solid Pale Ale that evokes an English garden, where gentlemen meander about in top hats and monocles. Interesting? Perhaps. Exciting? Not really.

Served on tap in a pint glass at the SBC in Southport CT.

Medium copper pour, with a touch of white foam. No lacing observed.

Mildly malty smell, some fruitiness. The taste is more of the same. There's a subdued hop bitter in there, but its more sweet than bitter. Definitely in the English style. Seemed low ABV also, easy drinker.

Like most SBC brews, very low carbonation - I'd love a little more in there, affects the mouthfeel.
