Pours a filtered amber-hazelnut brown color with a big khaki head.

Smells of toffee and glazed caramel among a gentle bread quality, which got a refreshing red berry coffee tartness to it.

Drinks pretty soft with a medium carbonation to it and a rustic malty body, which stays refeshing.

Tastes of toasty malts, coated by toffee, while getting accompanied by toffee supportive earth. Finishes with a soft dryness, adding a pleasant depth to the prevailing, smoky turning malts.

Nice brew, relying on the malts with a well composed diversity, making this very drinkable.

Consumed today from the swing-top bottle into a glass. Definitely a dunkel lager, dark, with a rich and complex aroma. Taste is pretty darn good, some dark fruits, raisins, hints of molasses and sweetness. Finishes pretty clean and the body is fairly light. Overall a great representation of the style.

1pt .9 fl oz brown bottle with flip top

Kaiser Brau Veldensteiner Landbier poured a cola color and had red highlights when held up to the light. A nice 1-finger off-white/light tan head formed at the top of my pilsner glass. The nose is dominated by roasted malt, and a little nutty. The taste is slightly sweet, malty flavors of burnt toast, a hint of toffee and just enough hops to balance the lager. Mouth feel is light to light-medium with a moderate amount of carbonation.

Veldensteiner Landbier has a good flavor but is not filling making this lager very drinkable. I would even enjoy this dunkel lager on a hot summer day.
