Pours a cola brown with generous head that nicely developed with a vigorous pour. Nose has some pleasant bread dough aromas, light brown baking spice, and dark but not burnt toast. Palate is on the lighter side for body, but good flavors of brown bread and a slight mineral quality. Very easy drinking and has an attractive bottle.

500 ml swing top Bottle poured into tulip glass

Pours a deep chocolate brown with a thin foam cap with no lacings. No visible carbonation.

Sweet maltiness aroma almost like molasses or sorghum and raisins.Earthy. Chocolate hints.

Carbonation on the tongue. Malty. Medium mouthfeel.

Good malty taste which I like. Clean with no bitter aftertaste. Slight sweetness lingers on the tongue. Nice beer that I would enjoy again.

A - Dark amber pour with a high beige foam that retain well. Some patchy lacing on the glass. Bottle conditioned yeast sediment at bottom of bottle.

S - Strong smell of caramel malt, rustic grains, and a bit of cocoa powder. This is a very rough beer, and actually benefits because of it.

T - Very strong malt flavors of caramel and coca hit the tongue. Has a rich finish of wheat bread and pumpernickel.

M - Feels thick and has a heavier feel than its ABV. This is an easy drinking beer however.

O - Not a bad option for the style and feels very rustic. Thus unpolished dunkel is probably more true to the style than the more known products.

Poured from 500mL swing-top bottle into a pint glass.

Appearance: deep, dark amber hue with a haze-free body and a good effervescence. Head pours two thick fingers of frothy tan foam which subside pretty quickly. Not bad!

Smell: rich caramel malt aroma with a hint of chocolate and a hint of a dark fruitiness. I quite like it.

Taste: mild malty flavor; a bit more subdued than the aroma but a similar flavor profile. Chocolate is a little bit more pronounced than in the smell. There's a little bit of a dustiness toward the end; not off-putting, but not as clean as it could be. Overall, not too bad.

Mouthfeel: light body with a decent level of carbonation and a somewhat thin creaminess. Not bad for the style, but not terrible fulfilling.

Overall: I think this is a pretty tasty example of the style. Not perfect, but definitely worth a try.

500ml flip top bottle. Pours brown with a short lived, off-white head and lovely carbonation. Aroma is of toasted malt, sweet caramel malt, bread crust, hints of chocolate. Body is medium and smooth. Caramel, toasted malt, plums, hints of chocolate and earthy hops combine on the palate. Long semi-dry finish. Delicious brew.

A: Pours clear garnet red with light amounts of visible carbonation. Finger tall frothy off white head with excellent retention. Excellent amounts of lacing present as well.

S: Aromas are malty and bready with just a hint of spicy hops. The malts seem to be toasted and overall the smell is not unlike pumpernickel bread.

T: Flavors are slightly sweet and malty - bready & toasted malts - with slight hints of raisin, toffee, and char.

M: Light to medium bodied and just shy of moderate amounts of carbonation. Slightly chewy.

O: A style that I rather enjoy, I found this to be a good example. Quite enjoyable and easy to drink - I could and will enjoy more of this beer at some point in the not too distant future. Good balance and complexity.
