Swing top bottle.
Hazy amber with a weak head despite medium carbonation.
Medium body.
Aroma is largely that of a regular hefe but the darker malts show clearly in the flavor.

1pt .9 fl oz brown bottle with flip top

Kaiser Brau Veldensteiner Dunkles WeiBbier has a dark rust color and light cloudy body. An off-white 2-finger foamy head was formed as it filled my weizen glass. The head showed good retention as consumed. Unfortunately, the appearance is the best part of this ale. The nose was light, a little roasty and sweet. The taste was almost watered down, with flavors of roasted malt and a little nutty. The mouth feel was very too. It was thin and watery for the style.

Overall, there are much better German Dunkelweizens - sorry to say I was disappointed and will not revisit.

3/22...pours hazy rusty orange. Clear at the bottom. 1/4 inch white foam. Soft wheaty nose, some banana. Very thin taste, firm carbonation. Very watery. Not much depth of flavor.

Pours from a classic flip top bottle. Pours a dirty gold, very light brown hues. Off white large head that settles to a film. Nice classic glass lace.

Aroma is earthy, root like with hints of dark fruit.

The taste hints that of lite fruits like banana, citric hop and spice of clove and a dash of pepper. The yeasty wheat makes itself known as well.

The mouthfeel I thought was thin and watered but after a few sipes the mouth dries alittle and a cotton softness settles in. It works!

Overall a good tasty dunkle-weiz. I'd order this for sure in an Octoberfest setting in of coarse a much larger glass.

500 ml bottle. Served in a weizen glass, the beer pours a hazy orange/amber color with about a 2 inch frothy off-white head. Head retention is pretty good, with a small amount of lacing. Aroma is wheat, cloves and a hint of banana. Taste is similar to the aroma, with the addition of some caramel. I like the taste but the flavor is weak compared to the aroma, so I had to knock down the score for that. Mouthfeel/body is medium, it's a bit rich and is well carbonated. Drinkability is decent, it goes down easy enough. The soft carbonation helps with that. I think it's a decent beer, I'd try this again in the future.

Poured from bottle into a weizen glass

Appearance –Pours a hazy-murky lighter brown color with a rather thick and creamy tan head. The head has a wonderful level of retention fading very slowly over time to leave a medium level of lacing.

Smell- The aroma is quite sweet. It is heavy of a caramel and dark fruit smells with a light roasted brown bread. Other yeasty aromas and aromas of banana and clove are there as well.

Taste – The taste begins with a bready and light caramel taste. As the taste advances further flavors of yeast and banana come to the tongue. From there the roastiness of the flavor grows a little bit more toward the middle/end of the taste. At the end flavors of clove and cardamom then come to the tongue, along with a bit of citrus hop, leaving a lightly bittered and spiced bready flavor to linger on the tongue.

Mouthfeel – The thickness/creaminess of the beer is on the average to slightly above average side of a brew of 5.4 % , while the carbonation level is very low. The body is decent for the bready and yeasty flavor of the brew, but the very light level of carbonation does not seem to suit the brew well, with a grater carbonation likely giving it a more refreshing flavor as well as being good for the spice and sweeter flavors of the taste.

Overall- Ah… it was alright, but nothing too special here. The taste was fairly balanced, but the mouthfeel was a little off. Not one I would likely go back too. While I would not go back to it I would say that is at least worth one try for anyone who has not had it.

A: The beer is cloudy brownish yellow in color and has a high amount of carbonation. It poured into a weizen glass with a finger high head that slowly died down but never completely faded away, consistently leaving a thin layer of bubbles covering the surface.
S: There are light to moderate aromas of banana, bubble gum, clove and dark fruit in the nose.
T: The taste is very similar to the smell and has notes of yeast but isn’t very pronounced.
M: It feels light-bodied and a bit thin on the palate with a high amount of carbonation.
O: This beer might not be as flavorful compared to other beers in the style, but it’s very drinkable.

Super murky deep copper color with a thick white head. Spicy yeast with lots of bread and clove character on the nose. some dark fruit. Head shows no signs of dieing.

Light body with rich flavors. Dark fruits and bright malts. Good balance. Crisp clean finish. Cleanses the palate with a slight yeast bite. Creamy mouthfeel. Pretty nice.

Holds together very well and showcases bright fruit flavors of apples and pie crust while remaining dark in character.

This beer pours out as a muddy looking brown color with a tan head that is pretty big at first then settles down. The aromas of this brew are heavy in the banana and clove area. The smell of the beer is also on the soft side and earthy. The taste of this beer reminded me pretty much of any other type of dunkelweizen. The mouthfeel was soft and smooth. Very drinkable and a little dry in the aftertaste. Not too bad but there are better out there.

A: Light tan color, not too cloudy, 2" of head easily. The head looks nice and creamy.
S: The aroma hit me before I even got close to it. Mostly banana, some slight clove, not much malt in the aroma. Nice.
T: Taste is rather light. Slight bubble gum, a bit lemony, a little watery. Some slight sweetness. A little papery.
M: The nouthfeel seems off for this beer, just too watery, while there is a fairly present head, not very carbonated. Maybe I poured this too fast.
O: Not a bad beer, I think there are better versions of this. A bit better in terms of mouthfeel and a bit more flavor (higher mash temp?) and this would be pretty good.

Dark, hazy brown with a big foamy eggshell cap. Fresh pumpernickel yeastiness and over-ripe banana with clove spice in the nose. Soft lemon and bubblegum with some breadiness, a mild take on the style. Medium light bodied with plenty of carbonation. Decent and easy drinking but nothing to write home about.
