Style: American IPA

Alcohol by volume (ABV): 6.50%

Availability: Year-round

Notes / Commercial Description:
Big Daddy IPA is a hop-head's delight, a generously dry-hopped yet surprisingly drinkable American-style India Pale Ale. Poured into a standard American pint glass, the beer is a golden straw color, with tight carbonation and a slightly off-white head that leaves a lovely lacing. The aroma is floral, fresh grass, pine needles, grapefruit, and a some subtle notes of fresh bread.

Like this.
A) Can. pours a hazy, pale golden yellow color, with a finger of puffy, eggshell white head, which lasts and leaves lace.

S) Bitter grapefruit, orange, and lemon rind - marmalade - on top of a bright, crackery pale malt. Next is pine. and drying pepper.
T) Follow the smell but more ample and very fresh and juicy. But finishing dry and flinty.
F) On light side of medium. smooth, with hefty hops that clean up the finish.
O) Classic.

L: Pours a slightly hazy but brilliant yellow-gold color with a medium creamy head and some nice sheets of lacing around the glass.

S: Strong notes of caramel are apparent from the malt, with notes of lemon and orange citrus mingled in, and some pine in the background. This is a pretty nice smelling IPA.

T: Notes of caramel from the malt, mixed with a very strong piney bitterness. There is some sweet citrus in there but not nearly as strong the aroma would suggest. This beer is very bitter but doesn't seem to have a lot of flavor beyond bitterness. I like a good bitter IPA, but this one just seems to be bitter to be bitter.

F: Medium body and medium carbonation.

O: This is a very old school west coast IPA. The aroma is nice but the taste doesn't really back it up.

355ml bottle poured into a pint glass.

Hazy gold amber in color with very thick white fluffy head that withstands with very good retention before slowly subsiding to a thin layer of everlasting foamy crown along with plenty of sticky and refined lacing patch and spot, high carbonation.

Hoppy and fresh with zesty citrus and tropical fruit then it is floral, piney, grassy, resiny and earthy, malt is there too with notes of bread and caramel.

Upright hop bitterness takes over since the start and continues its journey until bready malt trying to participate in the middle, anyway, hop still prevails as pine, resin and citrus lurking in and wrapping up the finish together with a long tail of clean bitterness.

Medium body with smooth mouthfeel from a wave of lively effervescence covering the palate, dry finish. This one is pretty good American IPA with solid and straightforward hop character to be pleased by any hopheads.
