Style: American IPA

Alcohol by volume (ABV): 6.50%

Availability: Year-round

Notes / Commercial Description:
Big Daddy IPA is a hop-head's delight, a generously dry-hopped yet surprisingly drinkable American-style India Pale Ale. Poured into a standard American pint glass, the beer is a golden straw color, with tight carbonation and a slightly off-white head that leaves a lovely lacing. The aroma is floral, fresh grass, pine needles, grapefruit, and a some subtle notes of fresh bread.

A-golden with a frothy white head. looks good.

S-really decent and good scent of fresh hops. somewhat sweet as well.

T-comes in with a sweet and mellow flavor of citrusy hops. not a strong flavor, with only a small hint at bitterness. after-taste is mostly citrusy with a subtle hint at the grains.

M-creamy medium carbonation with a nice dry finish.

O-definitely an okay IPA. nothing wrong with it, nothing too exciting. maybe it's worth a try, but I'm not about to order it again unless my options are unlimited.

Poured from a bottle into a shaker pint, the beer is a hazy, honey-gold coloring with a thin, sparse, filmy coating of head. Aromas of citrus sweet and tart, evergreen and spearmint, and subtle caramel notes. Flavors are very tart and spicy hopped forward, with lemon and grapefruit all over your tongue. Balance comes about as you go a bit deeper, with more of the pepper and green characteristics coming forward. Light, slightly dry body into a semisweet and tart aftertaste. Clean, smooth, and light finish with a slight dry and pucker at the end. Easy drinker.

my least favorite from speakeasy so far. their most generic beer, and while still delicious, it fails to pop like the others do, and like a good ipa should. its pale blonde in color, light for the style, with gorgeous ring lacing as it sips and a lasting almost nitro white head. the nose is balanced, too much so. grain cancels hops, not good for ipa. the flavor is better, with a quenching bitterness only on the back end, fine and dandy, but boring. light grain bill, in terms of color and flavor, but enough fermentable sugar to reduce the otherwise interesting hop profile to nothing. I like the sessionability though, I could have five of these no worries. not enthusiastically excited about this, but I appreciate the feel, which lets little bubbles percolate the more jovial bits right through the tongue, right in the center, fun and different, this beers main redeeming quality. otherwise a letdown from speakeasy, who is capable of greatness every time.
