Black bodied beer with a thick cap. Lots of rich chocolate and bourbon in the aroma and flavor. Well integrated barrel notes. Silky mouthfeel with low carbonation. Not a hint of booze. Carbonation is on point. Not a hint of any off flavors or oxidation in this beer. This is surely a fantastic blend of "stout focused" barrel aged American Strong Ale. This has familiar attributes of the Firestone Walker anniversary blends, but still has it owns unique flavors to be enjoyed. This is a 2015 bottle that is "cellaring" very well.

Multiple beers aged and blended together over time; bourbon is apparent- well balanced given the number of beers. A very nice after dinner beer. 5/13/17

Appearance: Pours espresso brown with two fingers of beige foam; strands of lace cling

Smell: Oak, coffee, vanilla and Bourbon tones dominate, with molasses, licorice, chocolate, dark fruit and spice cake underneath

Taste: Chocolate and coffee forward, with molasses, licorice and spice cake building; by mid-palate, however, the Bourbon overwhelms, after the swallow, bringing oak, tobacco and vanilla into the finish; nice blend of all the flavors linger into the aftertaste

Mouthfeel: Full bodied with moderate carbonation; considerable warmth in the gullet

Overall: I am liking this beer and missing Speakeasy; not quite up to the Firestone Walker blends but really quite good

Thanks, AleHunter805, for the opportunity

The beer comes in a ruby to deep brown color.

The aroma offers bakers chocolate, cocoa, spice, bourbon, light vanilla.

The flavor explodes with vanilla, sharp whiskey flavors, milk chocolate, a medium plus mouthfeel offering silky mouthfeel, medium minus carbonation, while still showing the barrel and blending complexities.

A: deep brown almost black. Some ruby and mahogany hues. Medium loose khaki bubbles

S: bourbon. Chocolate. Devils food cake batter. Molasses. Raspberry preserves. Brown sugar.

T: see above. Great bourbon booze but not too harsh. Nice sweetness. Not cloying. Literally tastes like above described. With addition of some oakiness.

F: not quite as thick as I would expect and hope. Has a bite to it. But smooth

O: very well done. Nice collaboration of flavors.

Almost pitch black in the glass with some dark red hue along the edges.
Aroma is heavenly, lots of bourbon upfront with some char and chocolate.
Taste upfront is all bourbon, but towards the end the bourbon gives way to a nice medley of chocolate notes, cocoa, malt and the elusive coconut which is not the easiest for me to pick. There have been just a few brews where I have actually been able to notice the coconut notes from the barrel aging and this is one of them.
Very smooth and doesn't drink like a 10.5% ale, alcohol is very well hidden and there is no burn whatsoever.
I have barely written any reviews in a long time, but this is one beer that called for one. A very well-made and well-rounded beer, a must try IMHO.
