Notes / Commercial Description:
Doubling down on malt & hops, Double Daddy raises the stakes. Double Daddy pours a fiery orange with a lasting creamy white head. Triple dry-hopped with Pacific Northwest hops, the aroma is lush and floral with notes of grapefruit, tangerine, pine, and spice. Fresh pale malts and an orange marmalade tang balance the bold, bitter hops and lean mouthfeel.

No bottling date that I could find.

A: Pours a very cloudy dark orange. Good sized fluffy off-white head though. Good head retention and a smattering of lacing.

S: Huge sharp fruity hops. Citrusy mainly. Tangerine in there as well as some pungent dank spicy hops.

T: Again, big hops up front. Tangerine, citrus and a huge dose of dankness. Spicy pine in the middle and finish. Kind of an odd combination. Bready malt and then more of that dankness and pine in the aftertaste.

M: Medium bodied, sharply bitter. Very oily.

O: Kind of an odd beer. Weird combination of hops and with odd flavors. Strange random bitterness and a very oily mouthfeel, like someone poured hop oil into this thing. It's very muddled as a result. It's okay but not something I'd seek out again.

My second time trying this beer was much better than the first, pours a lightlyly hazy gold/orange with a tight one finger white head.Vibrant hop aromas grapefruit and spruce mainly, big but not over the top flavors obviously the hops dominate but dont wreck your mouth.Citrusy like that of lemon and over ripe pineapple with just a small hint of pine but its not big,a lightly sweet caramel malt base shows itself more than alot of other beers of style.Just solid I think the 9.5% abv is pretty well hidden,I would have again.

Very good DIPA, on tap at The Cannery Row. Cloudy orange and Lacey. Big hops, hop aroma, fruity apricot , peach, citrus, and earthy. Good drinking for the style. Good Fall beer. Dry hop and toasted malt finish. Fuller mouthfeel with a good malting, caramel.

Picked up a four pack on my latest beer run. Poured from the brown silk screened bottle into a tulip glass. I was gratified with a perfect 1-1/4" of off white head of tight dense foam that lasted and lasted and produced heavy lacing as it dissipated. The beer was slightly cloudy with big chunks of unfiltered solids floating around an eventually settling to the bottom.

The nose on this one is exceptional! I had to give it a "5" because it was so unique. Sure there was the obligatory hop presence (like a grassy fresh mowed field). But there was also a sweet, carmel-like aroma as well.... rather odiferous!

Taste: Hey!... This stuff is GOOD! The beer that eats like a meal! Unique taste that combines a bitter hop with a sweet malt for a great balance. The grassy hops taste like alfalpha and the carmel sweetness of the malt provides a sweet balance. There is also a woodsy taste to add complexity.

Mouthfeel: Creamy, rich, chewey, minimal carbonation.... all lead to a GREAT DIPA!

Drinkability: Fantastic DIPA. I think that I even prefer this to Three Floyds Dreadnaught due to it's complexity and balance. AND.... that's saying something (to knock Dreadnaught off it's pedestal).

On tap at the Sunset Bar & Grill in Boston (my favorite beer hangout even though I live a thousand miles away).

Nose is very hoppy & citric, bright & fruity.

Served medium yellow with a slight haze, mild head.

Tart dry, mildly hop bitterness. Tart fruit and fruity hops. Incredibly pungent hops remind me of V8 with a highly vegetal and fruity feel... a mild turn-off. Exotic fruit hints at mango. Mildly malty with biscuit, nut, and toast qualities. Medium body with a nice creamy mouthfeel. Finishes with a good stiff hop bitterness.

Pretty good, but I'm not big on these super pungent hops that remind me of V8. I don't need another one of these.

I'm not a huge fan of this brewery, but I don't see a lot of double IPAs in 12 oz bottles, so I decided to give this one a shot. Bottle poured into a Stone IPA glass.

A: Darker than most IPAs, this resembles more of an ESB to me. The head poured fairly thin and quickly faded into a ring.

S: Oily hops and sweet citrus. It has a fairly pronounced smell.

T: Overwhelming hops and alcohol; definitely not a subtle beer. The high ABV is quite apparent.

M: Medium-bodied and crisply carbonated.

Very rough around the edges, especially when compared to other Pacific-brewed double IPAs, such as Rogue's I2PA or Stone's Ruination.

Clear orange-rust color.

Off-white head; strong lace.

Malty grapefruit nose.

Medium mouthfeel.

Boring but balanced, this has a vague citrus & malt combination but fails to excite.

Great hoppy aroma with a 1" head with good mouth feel. The bitterness is a little overwhelm. If they can reduce the IBU with the bitternes while keeping everything else, this would be a great beer.

Purchased at Billy Goat's Tavern in Mt. Shasta, California.

Appearance is very clear and crisp, golden with light orange-amber hues, you could read the newspaper through this one. Much lighter in color than the IPA's I am used to. Poured to a small clean slightly oily white head which dissapated quickly to a thin line with nice sticky lacing reminicent of recrystalized sugar; I really enjoyed this aspect of the beer.

Smells sweet and malty with fruity hops, some hints of apples, perhaps other sweet fruit and maybe a little vanilla in there. Sugary.

The taste is strong on hops up front with golden malty goodness to follow. The hops definately smack you to attention on the front end. The taste is centered on fruity and floral hops, sugar-cookie malt, with hints of citrus and apple, butterscotch, and raw sugar. The hop bitterness again emerges at the end to finish the brew.

The mouthfeel is thick and smooth and the drinkability is good considering I had two (12 oz) with a good sized dinner and easily could have had a third. I enjoyed this brew with some excellent fresh fish tacos; the hops stood up well to the mildly spicy salsa and breaded fish while the sweet citrus and sugary flavors paired nicely with the guacamole and sweet cabbage.

A nice Imperial IPA if you like them on the sweet side.

Thanks to my Aunt Tracy for this bottle, enjoyed chilled in a tulip shared the 22oz with tenderbranson69.

The color is dark copper with mild haze and thick white cap with very fine bead. Lace sticks in a thick pattern on the glass. The smell i strong with fruity yeast ester and light toasted malt with a piney hop aroma and light citrus accent, low alcohol in the overall smell. The feel is good with dry malt body and spice with medium carbonation and resinous texture with sweet middle and mild alcohol with fruity tangy yeast and dry finish.

The flavor is very dank with fruity and floral flavors from the yeast and hops with slight spice and pine flavor with moderate bitterness and warming alcohol as it finishes. The hops have a subtle herbal accent with grassy flavor and peppery bitterness. Overall a decent Imperial IPA, not my first choice but pretty drinkable and I was certainly grateful for this -not as fresh tasting hop wise, however I would say try this if you like West coast Ipa's.

A- Pours a clear peach color with a nice, 2 finger off white head.

S- Smell is very hoppy, deep piney notes, resiny, sweet light fruit notes.

T- Resiny hops all the way through, an unbalanced grainy maltiness followed by a raw alcohol character.

M- Thick with medium carbonation.

D- It was all going so well until I took the first sip! The unhidden alcohol and lack of cohesiveness really make this one I wouldn't revisit.
