Style: American Double / Imperial IPA

Alcohol by volume (ABV): 8.50%

Availability: Rotating

Notes / Commercial Description:
Doubling down on malt & hops, Double Daddy raises the stakes. Double Daddy pours a fiery orange with a lasting creamy white head. Triple dry-hopped with Pacific Northwest hops, the aroma is lush and floral with notes of grapefruit, tangerine, pine, and spice. Fresh pale malts and an orange marmalade tang balance the bold, bitter hops and lean mouthfeel.

Disappointing DIPA. I expected something with a darker color and smoother taste. Oh well, I guess I'm just not a fan of west coast IPAs.

Apparently they lowered the ABV from when it was added to BA. Maybe that improved it a bit? I would not call this a poor beer, but it's not outstanding either. Cloudy and orange with a creamy head - lots of lacing. Aroma is light tropical fruit and some bread like malt. A bit of the alcohol vapor present. Flavor is grassy hops, pine and some biscuit malt, but the balance seems off. Still some alcohol burn in it & a thin mouthfeel. Bitter aftertaste. Alright overall, but Not one I would drink again unless it was free.

A mixture of dull orange and copper. 1/3" white head. Aroma hit some dry hop notes, maybe Simcoe and a little Amarillo?

Taste, super bitter, heavy crystal malt, not a lot of specific hop flavor. A lot of them old school C hops. Alcohol isn't really covered up like you would hope for with a malt bill this heavy. Woodiness and stickeness to the malt feels. Good price format issues, but ultimately I think I like their single ipa more.

On draft in a tulip. Bright orange with a nice white head and really good lace. Nose is mostly pine, maybe a little bit of cracker. Taste is not complex, but I really like it. Dank hops and a small amount of tropical fruit, balanced with bready malts. It's pretty crispy, well carbonated, medium body and finished wet. Overall, I found it very easy to drink and I enjoyed. Not the best IPA I've had, but definitely worth a try.

Looks almost like a Belgian Triple in a glass. The tase is very piney, the smell very citrus. Starts like kind of a grapefruit hop with a solid IPA, bitter and bold. Never had one like this honestly they don't seem to have these DIPA with Northwest hops in Houston. The bitter citrus is a good mix up 1x a week if I could get it locally.

Poured from a 12 oz. can. And yes, that can came courtesy of the amazing woodychandler. Has a golden/orange color with a 1/2 inch head. Smell is of malts, light pine. Taste is malts, pine some citrus, light bitterness. Feels medium bodied in the mouth and overall is a decent beer, but lacks the punch I expect from this style.

Sampled at beerfest 2016.
A very nice IPA, but it lacks a unique characteristic to make it noteworthy.
Bitter, yes. Hoppy yes. But I've had more and better bitter, and more and better hoppy in many other beers.
Very drinkable, but also-- unfortunately- quite forgettable.

Beautiful color and great taste. Strong start and bold finish. Not sure why this is rated so low for a double but it's one of my favorites.
