Best beer from this brewer. Though it fails to hide its ABV all that well, this is now my favorite red ale, which is a favorite style. I like Imperial ones.

A: The pour is a murky, brown amber color but it boasts a billowy, dense, lasting tan head,. with massive, creamy lace.
S: As expected in red - a caramel malt backbone to the beer with bread store dominating piney hops. Malt wins, almost pretzel bread.
T: While the pretzel bread continues balance the tips over the sweet malt base to the smokey, piney, estery, and bitter hops the blends and twist like a pretzel or "a betrayal" delivering an "Affair" to remember and savor.
M: The body is bigger than medium, almost chewy, and the see-saw into the drying and meditative finish is clean.
D: My favorite red ale. A cut above. Would love to taste off a flight of red ales.

Light red and brown come together to form a 3/5" off white head. Toasty nuts and red malts in the aroma.

Taste imparted a good amount of hops instead of the malt, finally. Plenty of toffee malt with it, but they pumped up the malt bill compared to most reds. Minor amount of grapefruit with it. Hid alcohol well.

Definitely an upper 2nd class red ale. Almost broke through to that 1st class tier, but this was a little big on the malt bill for me, but I see where it was very good for the mouthfeel and keeping the alcohol and bitterness from being too much.

22 ounce bomber, no date. Small tan head. Copper color. Nose is dark fruits, caramel, toffee, some hops and malt. Taste follows the nose. Slight bitterness on the back end. Chewy mouthfeel. Good beer, but not even close to the other Imperial Reds out there.

Finally special ordered a few bottles of this to try. This was a very heavy red/amber with a dynamite taste. I love all of speakeasy beers but this is very different from the rest. If you can find this beer anywhere other than San Francisco Bay Area you should get it, had to order online from So Cal to even be able to get this one. Speakeasy is hands down the best brewery in California in my opinion.

A - Dark amber pour with a tan foam head. Active carbonation. Lacing is rings on the glass.

S - Scents of caramel and rich malt.

T - Rich malty beer that has some sweetness but is essentially a malt bomb.

M - Rich beer that finishes with a raspy feel. Perfect pair with BBQ. Strong flavors stay in the palate.

O - I'd have this again. Surprised how good this is was. A solid amber from a brewery that for some reason I haven't had enough from as of yet.
