4x 16 oz. cans from Roth's West Salem Market. $14.99
Pour as a dark coca -cola brown with a huge frothy light beige head.
Aroma is pretty sparse to be honest. Some milk chocolate and weak coffee.
Taste balanced. This is a lager with cocoa accents...malts, chocolate and ash.
Nice enough mouthfeel..not extraordinary.
An OK Dark Czech,, but had far better

Can.

A very dark brown with reddish highlights. The nose is toasty and quite bready with more of a rich, sweeter, more complex malt palette akin to a Munich Dunkel. Toast, toffee, dark caramel, pumpernickel bread, rich and mildly fruity. The palate opens mildly bitter with roast and toast, a light grainy bitterness but again, there's a lot of rich, toasted bread here. Caramel, toffee, mildly nutty (@vurt below notes cashews, which is spot on) . Drying, creamy, mildly sweet finish. Light and creamy body, nicely carbonated. Solid.

Very dark brown color. Sweet brown aroma but a little metallic. Flavor is as I'd hoped, very rich.. low bitterness.. hint of metallic. Body is decent but high astringency. Would buy depending on price point.

16-ounce can purchased at Uptown Beer Co., and enjoyed in a British tulip-style half pint. Date stamp reads "04/25/23". That's right, this beer was canned 5 days ago.

Look:
Darkmoor has a perfectly clear body of an exquisite red-brown color with deep amber highlights. The pour raises a finger of rich beige foam with good retention that leaves intricate lacing on the glass.

Smell:
Rich toasty malt, semi-sweet with notes of roasted nuts and multigrain bread. Mild caramel is also present, tempered by a whiff of earthy and spicy hop character.

Taste:
Superb depth of semi-sweet malt, toasty and satisfying, along with a touch of caramel cream. Notes of coffee, crusty brown bread, dry-roasted almonds and cashews (unsalted). Toasted malt carries through the middle, with subtle layers of unsweetened cocoa, dried fruit, anise. The finish is a fine balance of malt, roast, and earthy hops.

Feel:
Medium-light body, rounded with smooth, slightly rich texture and temperate carbonation.

Overall:
Darkmoor is a fine, well-made example of the Czech Dark Lager style. Beautifully balanced, it has excellent depth of malt, and is never too sweet or too roasty. Delightful.
