This lager has a creamy white head with good retention and lacing. The brew is very clear and the color is amber with a copper undertone.

It has a soft hop aroma with a hint of apple. Drawing a full mouthful releases a subtle, balanced flavor with a slightly sweet malt presence, complimentary hop bitterness and creamy smooth carbonation for a good overall impression.

The brew went well with some enoki mushroom chow mein just cooked up for dinner.

My favorite brew from MBC,poured a nice amber color with nice rocky head, very malty bread smell that wasnt overly sweet.Great bread dough-like taste with some fruitiness in the background made this real enjoyable on the palate.Real easy to drink, one of my favorite beers from my local area growin up.Will be getting some when up there in a few weeks.

Poured from a 12oz. bottle into a pint glass.

A: Crystal clear amber in color with a thin white head. Low retention but good lacing.

S: Faint indications of light malt on the nose. Some alfalfa beyond if you look for it.

T: Malt sits well on the tongue and binds well together with some light bittering from hops. No real flavor from the hops but they do well to balance things out. Relatively light but nicely satisfying.

M&D: Light to medium mouthfeel, perhaps more than you might think at first glance. The carbonation was rather aggressive in the beginning but seemed to calm down through the course of the glass. The brew goes down pretty smoothly with a fairly quick finish. Light malty sweetness lingers for just a bit before the finish is complete.

Nice amber color with light head. Very light lacing. Looks a bit watery.

Carmal with light coffee overtones. Light floral scents also in there.

Light in the mouth with very little carbonation. Spicy and slightly sweet flavors comes through. Finish is long and complex.

A bitl light and watery in the mouth. Carbonation is thin.

Overall a nice smooth beer to drink. Pleasent but not great.

Clear, deep amber/copper colored body topped by a frothy yellow tinged off-white head that holds quite well and leaves some nice lace. The aroma expresses richly toasty Vienna malt. The body is medium/light with a fine carbonation that's lightly creamy in the mouth. The flavor is a very toasty, biscuity and nutty malt with an earthy/mineral character backed by a solid bitterness. It finishes dry and lightly astringent with a lingering combination of residual malt, spicy hops & bitterness. A somewhat heavy handed interperetation of the Vienna style. Still, a decent beer with lots of malt & hop character that would make an attractive alternative when faced with a limited beer selection.

This beer comes out of the bottle with an amber color and a medium fizzyish egg white head. Moderate to little lacing. Aroma of toasted malts and grassy hops. Taste follows the aroma but it is quite mild. Fruity juicy malts at first then more of a toasted caramel. Hops are well noticeable and grassy and wipe out the malt sweetness completely in the finish. A bit of citrus in the finish. Solid beer here, that seems to be the theme with MBC.

Appearance is that of tea with a thin white head that doesn't last long.

Has basically no smell. The beer was a bit cold, but seriously, I could smell nothing. (Even after the beer warmed, I could smell nothing).

The taste was only slightly better than the smell (or lack of). Just a touch of caramel if you really searched hard for it.

Mouthfeel tried to be complex, but was pretty weak. The caramel makes an attempt at sweet, but the bitterness soon takes over.

While nothing is exactly bad, there's just nothing happening with this beer. While it doesn't taste or smell bad, it simply lacks any character. As soon as I'm done with the 3 bottles I've got, I'll not worry about trying this one again.

Presented on draft at the MBC taphouse. Has a good amber color like, yes, a sunset, under a slightly tan head. A mild but pleasant "beery" smell to it. Taste is nicely roasted caramel malts, balanced by complementary hops. A fine example of what's basically a mild style.

Copper colored with a large head that had good retention. The head settles to a thick cap and a moderate amount of lacing. Weak aroma but I do pick-up caramel malt and some earthy hops. Good flavor with a nice balance of the caramel and nutty flavors from the malt and the earthy, grassy hops. A bit more hop presence and bitterness than other Vienna Lagers. There is a little lingering maltiness on the palate. Medium body and good carbonation. Feels large for a lager with this modest ABV. A good drinking beer that I could enjoy anytime of the year. Finely crafted lager.

When poured into my glass, this beer unfortunately had a quick dissolving head. There was no lacing on the sides of my glass with this beer. There was no carbonation observed rising to the top. In my opinion this beer had a fruity aroma along with a bitter taste.

12 oz. bottle. Clear amber in color, with some fine streams of carbonation rising from the bottom. Off-white fluffy head, great retention. Nice spots of lace left on the glass.

Bready, caramel aroma. Maybe a bit toasty. Soft floral hop notes in the background.

Good caramel malt backbone, sweet perhaps too sweet. Earthy and floral hop bitterness try to balance, but pretty one sided. A bit toasty.

Good body. I thought this was pretty good. Maybe a bit too sweet, but nice.

I poured into a pint glass to two inches of off white head. As the name suggests, it is amber in color. The smell is biscuit and caramel. It's got a solid malt backbone. It finishes with some hops. It's a well balanced beer. It fits the style well and is enjoyable to drink.

Golden in color with a nice foamy head.

Cerealic when smelling it, she also shows some notes of fruits and hops.

Her taste is very cereal, ester, with hard notes of alcohol, with some finish of fruits like apples and banana. Quite watery, but the notes of alcohol esters makes you forget that details

Beautifully pictured 12 oz bottle. Received via BIF XV. Haven’t heard anything about Michigan Brewing Company, so I’m definitely interested in trying something new.

Pours a deep amber color with swirling carbonation. The name tag of “sunset” really fits the color. A thick and juicy tan head formed and never retreated.
Caramel, with fruits lightly spiced in the background.
The taste is very superbly well-balanced. A roasty, nutty malt flavor, with a good hop bitterness, creamy feel and just a bit of carbonation. I wouldn’t have known about the marzen/octoberfest style until I went to enter the review. Seems a bit more aggressive than the traditional styles, but fits well, now that I think of it.

I don’t really care if it is an ale or a lager. Either way, it is delicious. I definitely wouldn’t mind having a few, since this is a well-crafted session brew. We need more of these great mid-western beers here on the east coast…

Bottle from the brewery- Deep orangey amber with a fizzy white cap. Nose of grainy malts, some caramel, fresh floral hops, some perfume. Sweet caramel malts meet grains and floral bitter hops. Prickly carbonation and a bit too sweet towards the finish. Pretty good. overall.

A - Coppery amber brew with an almost unnoticeable white head that disappeared instantly

S - Caramel malt with a slight hop aroma

T - Very malty with a nuttiness upon finish

M - Light to Medium bodied with fairly low carbonation

O - It's definitely a very drinkable beer, but there isn't anything special about it beyond that. I'm not usually a huge fan of vienna lagers, but this one was pretty satisfying.

We got a keg of this for a friends going away party last night.

pours a wounderful amber color with a short head that drops into lace.

the aroma malty, hint od hops, smitten of apricots.

the flavor is very malty, carmelized malt, hopsack, minerialness.

the mouthfeel is a little thick, coats the inside of your mouth.

beer is very drinkable, a very good session beer, all weather.

i always understood this was a vienne lager, says it right on the six packs.

Poured from the bottle a clear amber-gold with a foamy head that melted away to a quarter inch. No real lacing to speak of.

Sweet mocha and malty aroma after an initial sensation of sour.

Tastes of roasted malts, caramel, and a slight bitterness from the hops.

Smooth and clean with not much carbonation.

A very drinkable beer and one of the better beers from Michigan Brewing Co.

The beautiful deep ruby color with gold edges makes up for the thin head and minimal lacing. I can smell a little roasted malt and hops, and some caramel but mostly just average adjunct sweetness. A very hard smell to decipher. The caramel that was breifly in the smell also makes a breif appearance in the taste, but then the taste turns into an extremely bitter High Seas India Pale Ale taste. This, in turn, makes the drinkability shit. On a final note, the mouthfeel is okay, but nothing to write home about.
