New kid in town -- at least around here. A Bavarian style beer brewed in Westphalia... open mind, open mind.

The .5 liter can advertises Krombacher as the No. 1 Beer Brand in Germany, wonder if any of the other No. 1s would dispute that? ;-)

$5.99 a 4-pack. Best by 07/18/2020 ink-jetted to the can's underside. Poured into my tall Becher.

L -- Clear, pale gold with a massive, dense white head that settles very slowly.

S -- Mildly herbal hops and very light breadiness. Pretty thin nose, overall.

T -- Lightly sweet, bready malts up front; mild herbal hops balance out with a touch of citrus; some grainy-huskiness in the finish with herbal hops rounding out the aftertaste.

F -- Mouthfeel is soft and smooth with a lightly dry finish. Body is light to light-medium.

O -- This is a crazy drinkable beer, but I wish it had more of the hallmark bready melanoidin a Helles is known for. Nevertheless, a very clean, precision-brewed German lager that shows no real faults that could doom a light lager. Filing this one away for easy-drinking occasions.

First time I've seen this beer available locally. Pours with a really nice full head with good retention and lacing. The beer is a slightly hazy medium gold. Aroma is a bit week with a lemony scent in the forefront. Slightly sour citrus notes are fairly prominent while tasting, though more characteristic malt and bread tastes come through later. Mouthfeel is a bit thin, and I would have preferred slightly more carbonation. Overall, while this isn't a bad beer, there is certainly nothing here to elevate it into the upper rank of this style. I found it a bit too sour, but it might be a pleasant enough hot weather choice.

Pours a clear yellow with a persistent head.
Smell is of mild lemongrass.
Taste is grassy hops with a bit of lemon. Some bread character.
Slightly sour but I found it delicious.

Pours a clear golden yellow straw color with lightly visible carbonation. A moussy head retains well and displays lacing.
Clean bready malt aromas, which carry a touch of sweetness, with notes of sourdough and a touch of green apples. Subtle but bright lemon and grassy hops aromas open up briefly.
Clean and soft malt flavors, bready and with notes of sourdough. Well attenuated, dry and not particularly sweet. A bit on the watery side, with grassy and lemony hops flavors beginning to make their mark halfway. The lemony hops flavors, in particular, coupled with the sourdough bread flavor, add a sour touch that is a tad much.
Light to medium bodied, crisp and lively carbonation. Short and dry finish that is crisp and lemony.
I don’t know about this one. Krombacher is usually pretty solid, however, the lemon flavor was a bit too much. It was, however, refreshing enough for a hot summer day.
