Krombacher PilsKrombacher Pils
Notes: Krombacher, situated in the beautiful hills of Westfalia, draws upon the local mountain spring water, soft and low in minerals, ideal for brewing a Pilsner style beer. Taste: a wonderful balance of hops and malt with a distinct crispness on the finish.

I have read the top rated pilsners in America. Rankings putting American craft brews as the best.
Simply absurd. For some reason, America cannot brew a decent true Pilsen.
This is world class. It sits on the tongue just right for a pilsner. Some golden midranged sweetness, subtle just right tang and some bitterness at the end with a hint of sour. But overall golden warmth of summertime, refreshing and clean. Great beer with food or as a session beer. I like to have one strong ipa, A belgian ale or a dunkel weiss and then switch to this for the rest of the night. Not too strong but gets the job done and not so sugary. Does not make you feel like crap the next day like drinking too many high calorie double ipa's

I approached this beer on a very hot day that found me wanting a very light beer to cool off a bit, so when I saw this on the menu I had to get it. This German Pilsener features a very bright, white head that is frothy in appearance and dissipates nice and slowly to a whispy lacing. The beer itself is straw in color, bordering on light golden, and clear with moderate carbonation readily visible in the form of small bubbles rising quickly toward the surface. 4/5 The aroma is very simple but appealing with notes of buttered white bread, black pepper, lemon, cracker, and a very clean smelling ho profile. Definitely typical of the german pilsener style here. The aroma is not overly strong but the notes listed above are easily noticeable. 3.5/5 On the tongue, a very light caramel sweetness comes out right away but the beer quickly transitions away from this in favor of a grainy sweetness along with buttered white bread and cracker really coming out. This graininess also quickly goes away with the hops taking over the remainder of the flavor profile. Peppery spiciness, lemon, and grass all form a significant hop bill that is very clean and refreshing. There is some bitterness but not a crazy amount, with just a bit lingering upon swallowing. 3.75/5 Very light and crisp mouthfeel that features a light carbonation burn up front that goes away rather quickly. Almost a bit watery at times unfortunately. Moderate dryness with a bit of dryness lingering after swallowing. 3.25/5 Simple and flavorful, this beer is very refreshing. Hop forward and somewhat dry, typical of the german pilsener style. This one fits the bill nicely on hot days. 3.5/5

Clear gold with a thick lush white head that leaves solid lacing.

Wet hay hop aroma. Clean tasting with some slight bready malt; a hint of cornand skunk; wet hay hops again; and a crisp aftertaste.

Medium bodied. Decent carbonation. An all around solid pilsner.

German beers consistently are in the top league of beer and this now international brew is one of the better examples. Full of flavour, refreshing and quality. As with any proper beer the difference in taste between bottled and canned is considerable and personally I only take the bottled version.

Poured a hazy yellow with one finger head into a Pilsner glass. Subtle malt smell. Taste is also not overpowering either malts. A little on the watery side but there is still flavor here. A proper German pils that is very drinkable.

This beer, albeit from a macro brewery, highlights that Americans need a better easy to purchase, go to beer. I love this beer. It is clean, very tasty and gives me the feel if drinking real beer without breaking pocketbook. I wish an American Macro could make a beer of this quality. Love it

Thought this was a pretty good German pilsner. Pours a bright yellow with a decent foam head. Aroma was a subtle citrus, while taste balanced hops and malt characteristics quite well. Nothing overwhelming in terms of flavor or character. Just a well-executed pils that you could easily drink while still getting a rewarding experience.

Poured from a mini can into a small beer glass.

Pours golden, brilliant, thick head of creamy foam that drops down to 1/4inch. Beer smell. Pilsy. Smooth clean crisp taste, light bodied. Very single, not to describe, but a solid easy beer.

Great little german pils alternative.

Tried on tap at Beer Revolution in Calgary, a classic lager start to the evening. I have also tried this in bottles. Classic German pilsener in the glass, a gold straw color with a smattering of white foam on top. Aroma was quite subdued, I do not possess the world's greatest olfactory sense but I can usually get more than this, especially from something on tap ... Faint cracker malts and musty hay-like noble hops on the nose, and more of the same on the palate. Fortunately I could taste more than I could smell, the aforementioned noble hops were prominent and fairly enjoyable, fresh grass and hay playing off some herbal notes like mild licorice and bitter watermelon rind. There is a grainy cracker-like malt backbone with hints of green grape fruitiness and a grain husk astringency. Aggressive carbonation along with a little metallic copper afterburn. Crisp and dry with less residual sweetness, DMS, and doughy character than most commercial Euro lagers. A decent noble hops showcase on tap (less fresh in the bottles I've sampled) and a pretty standard German pilsener for the purists, albeit one with a macro-brewed feel: Fizzy, harsh, and rather vapid.

500ml can poured into pint glass july20 2010

A Clear golden yellow with some tiny suspended particles upon closer inspection, decent carbonation but I'm more impressed by the three finger head that has great retention and leaves plenty of lace

S grassy hops with a little lemon and some sweet malt, about what I expect

T a little more malt and a little sweet bread to go along with all I smell

M a little flat but a pretty crisp beer no problems here but nothing special

D easy enough to drink, would work well for a sunny session

I'd drink this again its a decent beer, I wish our macros had some flavor like the Germans

This smells like corn and dirt. There is some slightly sweet corn in the taste as well. Medium texture. A fairly standard pilsner but, overall, a solid effort.

500ml bottle in germany. It pours a clear gold witha large, foamy white head that leaves a lot of lacing. The smell is almost skunky with a must to it, then some grain, fruit, noble hops, and metal. The taste is rather refreshing though, it is malty with a kick of noble hops that tickles the tounge. It is super light and drinkable. For a mass produced beer it isn’t bad.

11.2 oz bottle in the Us: not as good but it is freshly imported and isn't too bad.

A vigorous pour into a pilsner glass produced two fingers of bubbly white head on a well carbonated clear gold. Good lacing. The head diminished to a cap but sticks around.

Grassy grain smells. Lightly flavored sweet malts with a very mild spicy hop finish. Lacks the metallic notes that some pilsners have.

Light body and good carbonation. Very drinkable. Although abit tin in the flavour department it is a worthy pils with no major flaws.
