Krombacher, situated in the beautiful hills of Westfalia, draws upon the local mountain spring water, soft and low in minerals, ideal for brewing a Pilsner style beer. Taste: a wonderful balance of hops and malt with a distinct crispness on the finish.

Aroma has strong shot of fresh hops initially, and the sweet/sour quality of many of this style. Slight malt quality.
Huge full white head with decent stability. Water clear with gold color.
Intial taste is fresh malt, slightly sweet. Middle starts to take on bitterness, which increases to dominate with a long somewhat dry finish. Long bitter lingering on the tongue.
Fairly thin, somewhat watery. Has a refeshing quality and mildly crisp.
I really liked the initial flavour. But ultimately the bitterness to the exclusion of malt didn't allow enough balance to make it pleasing throughout.

I really love this bear. It's maltier and more brown in color than what I would expect from a Pilsner. Sweet and straw in the smell. Malty, with a bit of sour and caramel in the aftertaste. Soft mouthfeel, not too carbonated. Interesting for a macro brew.

16.9 oz can into a Becher glass.
L: Pours medium radiant gold, steady fine carbo bubbles, a thin bright white head that recedes to very thick skin & edge foam, random skeletal lacing.
S: Lightly bready, a hint of hay. Very simple.
T: Bready malts, light fruits, distant apple, a hint of yeast, gently spicy hops, a light mineral taste, a light doughy finish.
F: Crisp medium-light body with a fast clean non-drying finish.
O: A lighter tasting German Pils with lighter fruit esters than many in the style. Drinks easily and is very good in its style.

Re-reviewing as last time I wrote my review after about 7.
Great look...especially because they gave me a free Krombacher glass in their multipack.
The first beer that I ever was drunk on during my German exchange when I was 14...so of highly sentimental value. I stayed with a German family in Siegen, less than a mile from the brewery...the local bars sold us Stiefels, and we were only 14. Amazing! And we had to go to a German school the next day and play them at football. And we lost 3-0.
Aroma isn't that great...a little musky and kind of chaotic. But still with some great German hop notes.
I really love the bottle and glass art design, it's amazing and perfect for a pilsner beer.
Great foamy head for a pilsner, usual pale colour, aroma is complex and well cultured.
Taste is surprisingly good, in comparison to most pilsners. It has a courageous bitter kick, and a very intertwined malt and hops flavour. Great. I love the malty bitterness that kicks in after the initial sip. Not as flowery as a Czech pilsner, and crisper, drier and more natural/pleasant tasting malt than a Polish one...and generally more smooth. However not close to a proper German pilsner like Radeberger.
Feel is a little effervescent and light. Nothing special ; ) The hops is amazing on this, just had another one.
Brings back memories

My second beer from this brewer today .... And another one that is not particularly my style.... But when I see Made in Germany on the can I'm willing to give it a try .... I prefer the Helles, and this is okay .... Certainly better than an American mass produced pills

Pretty blah to be honest. Bought in a very non-German 660ml bottle today in a supermarket in Cambridge, UK. After having previously spent 3 years living in Berlin, I'm surprised to try this beer again. Zero of note about it at all and no reason to buy again.
