Best by 7/28/15. Pours dark Amber/brown, a little bit cloudy, semi opaque, with a nice tan thick fluffy head. Good retention and lacing. Smell is very malty and bready, with just a touch of sweetness. No discernible hop aromas. The taste is very malty, again, almost no hop bitterness, with a bit of a metallic taste, not too pleasing, seems kinda muted, like it's missing something (like the hops). The mouthfeel is full bodied, due the Munich malts. Overall, this one is lacking in flavor and aroma, probably won't be seeking it out again in the future.

It's funny how many "Beeradvocates" are fooled by this.
"Krombacher Dunkel" = "Krombacher Pils" with Sinamar (Farbebier) added to colour the Beer.

There's 0 roasted Malt flavour in this.An absolute, fraudulent joke.

The beer poura a crystal clear burgundy color with a lace head.

The smell is very malty with a hint of chocolate. The beer has a sweet smell and no sign of hops.

The taste is very malty and has some dextrinous tastes. The beer has a distinct bottom fermented taste, which is clean yet a bit fruity. THe beer has almost no bitterness and mouthfeel is sweet but not syrupy.

1 Liter draught at Der Biergarten Atlanta. Pours a dark brown. Great lacing on class. Fantastic taste and great example of its style. A little molasses/caramel/malty leaning. Even though it is a darker beer, it is incredibly refreshing. My first dunkel and made me a fan of the style.

Comes out of the tap an opaque chocolate brown - not much of a head, but this may be an artifact of the pour. Tan bubbles do leave some good lacing, though. Aroma has notes of roast malt and unsweet chocolate, not strong. Flavor has a roast malt core and notes of caramel and molasses plus a hint of cloves. Texture has above-average body and a good amount of fizz. Prosit for Oktoberfest!

This dunkelweizen pours a fairly dark brown color with a thin white head and a large amount of carbonation. The smell is faint, but slightly of wheat and alcohol. The flavors are heavy on the malt side with tones of bread, sweet molasses, a little earthy, and a hint of alcohol. Unlike most malt heavy flavored beers, the body is actually medium if not slightly light, however. This is a pretty decent beer. This style, however, is one of my favorites from Germany and I have definitely had some that are much better. I would get this again though at a bar, and I think it would be suited for a night of heavy drinking for someone, like myself, that doesn’t particularly go for pilsners and other super-light beers.
