a better than average euro beer, I think my first from turkey. the pour is clear golden pee colored with a lively white head that actually has pretty good retention. the nose is extract and adjunct, like a crappy lager, but the yeast is different and richer, some potential here. the flavor is very clean and crisp, neat and tidy. lacking the malt profile of a traditional pilsener, this is more of an adjunct sort of malt beer, but there is some decent hopping towards the finish, a light semisweet fruitiness, and an easy drinking character that's enhanced by great carbonation and quite a bit more body than most of these have. I would have preferred a beer that speaks to the dynamic Turkish culture, one with a touch of east and west flare, but I will settle for a better than average euro brew. not bad, especially when ice cold.

Pale gold pour with thick white head; good clarity. Smells like a Miller Lite. Lite floral hop taste but not much otherwise. Crisp, cold and watery. Overall, easy to drink lightly flavored beer.

Efes Pilsner....in a bottle, at Turkish Kitchen restaurant NYC, poured into a wine glass.
Appearance - basic gold color with a very white head, decent size but dissipates quickly.
Smell - not very aromatic, I get light malt, grain, and a touch of grass.
Taste/Mouthfeel - light watery character, somewhat bland, trace of hop on the way down, smooth.
Drinkability - normal euro pale character, drinkable.
Overall - while it was fun to try a Turkish beer this didn't really do much for me, good only in the heat.

The third beer of my international lager comparison.
Poured into my trusty pint glass from a nice looking green 33cl bottle. Not the kind of country that pops into your head upon hearing the word beer.
Colour is a pale gold with a thin white head and good visible carbonation.
The smell is pleasant. It has a nice floral scent, great after drinking American macrolager for two days. Bit grassy.
The taste is a revelation as well after drinking tasteless lager for two days. It is not special however. It tastes a bit grainy, but it has some sweetness as well and a strange flavour that I can't really place but it is not a bad flavour. Unlike the other beers this actually has atleast some hops (extract) in it.
This is a light beer with a medium/thin mouthfeel.
Overal this is a good lager for the summer. I would drink this again and I will try to find this when I go to Italy this summer.

$1.79 12 oz. bottle at Total Wine in Kennesaw, Georgia.
Appearance: Pours a clear, yellow body with a firm, fizzy, white head.
Smell: Sweetish pale malt nose with notes of spicy hops and ears of corn.
Taste: Sweet pale maltiness with a light taste of boiled corn. Sour graininess in the background. Spicy hops with a fair amount of sweetness-curbing bitterness. Drop of lemon. Finish crisp.
Mouthfeel: Light-bodied. Medium carbonation. A tad watery.
Drinkability: Eh. Not quite a turkey from Turkey, it's just a basic, simple lager.

Efes Pilsener, ABV: 5.0%.
500 ml bottle, 16.30 SEK at Systembolaget.
A: The liquid is clear with tiny bubbles, the colour kind of straw yellow and the head is white, foamy and pretty big.
S: Clean, fresh and malty aroma with notes of hay, citrus, tropical fruits and flowers.
T: Fresh flavours of malt, bread, butter, citrus, tropical fruits, floral hops and hints of cereals. Decent bitterness. Not bad at all.
M: Refreshing. Notable carbonation - perhaps a bit too strong. Medium-sized body.
O: A decent choice on a thirsty day in the sun, and I can imagine having Efes with salads, pasta dishes, grilled pork... or dare I say turkey?

A very clear pale golden colour and the loose white head lasted only for seconds. Plenty of visible carbonation. In a way it reminds me of champagne.
Smells of adjunct sweetness with a touch of hop crispness. Faintly grassy. Not exciting but not offensive.
Very macro lager tasting, immediately reminiscent of bud light. Watery rice flavour and plant sweetness. The finish is the only redeeming feature as it does have a crisp and fresh bit of grainy flavour.
Mouthfeel is alright, it is not watery, and the carbonation is lively but not sharp.
I had forgotten that I'd reviewed this beer some time ago, only realizing after I'd nearly finished this review. I suppose I can look at it as an evolution in my tastes and palate.

Familiar look and flavor if you've had one of the many similar styles from the Baltic or eastern Europe. Looks and smells in the glass like a sparkling cider. Bright yellow, thin, bubbly. Taste is very subtle malt and hops, with a spritzy carbonation; slightly watered-down taste and a bit of metallic aftertaste that would probably be less pronounced if fresh, from the keg. A Eurasian macro, but much cleaner taste than American (macro) pilsners. Definitely a drinkable beer and one that would go great with local fare in Istanbul. Or Constantinople. Or is it Istanbul?

At least its not Corona!
Light straw-gold in colour with a foamy white head. Sweet adjunct and malt smell, with a dry finish. A bit of solvent in the background there.
Bland, maize mash taste. Weak malts, nearly absent hops. Watery, chemically taste.
Carbonation is okay, but the flavour of this is so watery and harsh that its hard to drink.

Sheesh, what a turkey of a beer, har! This one poured the lightest and almost no color, except for a drop of lemon extract. Hey, is this a Mic Ultra?
Whoo, no, a big pungent aroma of malt and veggies tell a different story. And, capped off with a taste of steamed sour kraut in a pot of barley, makes me long for a Macro brew. Must be a mix of ½ barley and ½ corn.
Bitter and harsh finish, this is not even good for lawn mover beer comes in high priced at appx. $8 a sixer.
