Hop Tandem Series Vol 1: Simcoe + Amarillo
Local legend says that during Prohibition, Drumheller was the site of a very unusual robbery. It occurred at the train station where a barrel of moonshine was delivered. The police had been tipped off, so they stationed a guard to nab whoever came by to collect the goods. But a few days passed, and nobody showed. The officers then confiscated the cask for themselves…only to find it was already empty. Someone had drained out all the liquor by neatly drilling a hole in the bottom of the barrel, straight through the platform floor. The thief was never caught.

Volume 1 of their Hop Tandem Series. This one is brewed with Simcoe and Amarillo hops.
Appearance - Pours a honey amber with three fingers of frothy white head.
Smell - piney, earthy, leafy, floral, and weedy hops, pine resin, grapefruit peel, bready malts, caramel, and earthy yeast.
Taste - bold piney, earthy, leafy, floral, and weedy hops upfront. The pine resin comes in with a nice punch next followed closely by the grapefruit peel. The bready malts, caramel, and earthy yeast round out the brew.
Mouthfeel - Medium bodied with moderate carbonation. Finishes sticky with the hops lingering alongside the pine resin and grapefruit peel.
Overall - A bold and well executed IPA that delivers on drinkability and flavour. I commend Valley for starting this series. I look forward to sampling the next one.

Pours a not quite clear apricot orange colour with two plus fingers of bubbly to creamy capped off white head.
Aroma is certainly hop forward - a bit dank and sweaty - pine, grapefruit and as warmed a bit an intoxicating pungent over ripe orange smell tantalizes the olfactory nerve.
Tastes of grainy malt sweetness but again the hops dominate the palate - earthy over ripe citrus, piney, resinous and dank with a weedy note and a decent bitter kick.
Moderately full smooth mouthfeel, nicely carbonated - the earthy citrus bitterness lingers.

Moderately full smooth mouthfeel, nicely carbonated - the earthy citrus bitterness lingers.
