Serving Type: 341 mL Bottle poured into a Shaker Pint.

Easily the best Mexican made beer that I've had. Lots of flavours and aromas that would rival many European examples of the same style.

Presentation: 12oz short & stubby brown bottle with a gold foil neck.

Appearance: Bright, clear golden in colour. Large carbonation bubbles. Creamy thin white head that clings on the glass.

Smell: Very clean aroma, just a touch of sweet grain in the background.

Taste: Body is light, mouthfeel is very smooth and very creamy. Touch of bready sweetness that is even, flavourful and goes faintly fruity -- in a soft, gentle sweet peach kind of way. The faintest hint of smooth vanilla hides amongst the light sweetness, but then it's lost almost instantly and the bready sweetness pulls thru for a second round. Light grain follows. Hop bitterness is also light with a slight twang of zesty hop and floral flavour which are quickly subdued. Finish is quite clean with some light residuals.

Notes: Before anyone says anything ... yes, this is a Vienna-Style Lager. There are quite a few Mexican lagers that are, but that's a history lesson within itself. Back to the beer ... without a doubt one of the best mass-produced Mexican lagers available. Just had one of these with a rice, bean and cheese burrito covered in peppermash salsa. It quenched, quelled and complemented quite nicely.

12 oz brown bottle with no freshness date. Very thin white lacing though it sticky quite well.

Slightly earthy hop with a spicy back, is this dry hopped or is it hop extract. Thick sweet graininess wraps around the hops to make the aroma somewhat intriguing.

Clean palate, perfect with all spicy foods and not just Mexican. Thin maltiness holds on to a sweet graininess, hops are not there just for the bitterness. Bitterness balances very well and there is a level lingering flavour of earthy floral hop. Clean dry grainy finish.

This is my top pale Mexican beer without a doubt.

Poured from a bottle (best by date 19Sep15) into a pilsner glass.
LOOK: Pours with a finger's worth of white foam that halves itself after a minute and a half. Gold in color. There is a plethora of ascending bubbles. Lacing is thin, but moderate.
SMELL: Mild aromas of grass and sweet bready pilsner malts first enter my olfactory receptors. These malt aromas are incredibly well balanced by mild bitter hops and slightly less mild spicy hops.
TASTE: Initial taste is mild grass and sweet bread flavors that combine with milder bitter hop flavors. All flavors persist as mild spicy hop flavors enter immediately after. This is incredibly well balanced as the smell told me.
FEEL: Medium-bodied with moderate carbonation. This goes down smooth and finishes crisp.
NOTE: As noted twice, this was brilliantly balanced between hops and malts. I know people always compare this to other brews from Mexico, but they really shouldn't. This is not an American Adjunct Lager and shouldn't be compared to Corona or Dos Equis.

12oz bottled January 2018 & marked bb January 2019 poured into a can glass at fridge temp 4.7% ABV 21 IBU. The beer pours bright golden straw yellow with nearly white head. The head recedes to a fine coat and leaves some lacing. The aroma is a mix of floral hops and light malts. The taste is more light malt with a steady balancing bitterness, but no distinct hop flavor. Mouthfeel is thin to medium bodied, adequately carbonated and mostly dry in the finish. The finish is clean with minimal off flavors. Overall, very good. Not sure it's a German pilsner, but it's the best light colored Mexican beer I've tried. Scored as a German Pilsner, not an AAL. AAL score would have been higher.

The best beer our great neighbors from the south have provided. I once went to a Mexican restaurant and the stuck a lime on the top of the bottle... I flicked that stupid lime in a second and informed the waiter, this is Bohemia a real beer #nolimerequired.

Two 12 ounce bottles consumed with a dinner of fish tacos at Manuel's in downtown Austin while on a business trip. Clean, light and balanced with a bit of a floral quality that I found enjoyable. An easy beer to drink and it paired nicely with my meal. Head and shoulders above every other Mexican beer I've had to date.

When I look around and see mindless beer drinkers enjoying their Coronas and Modelos, I sigh and hope that they discover a good Mexican beer like Bohemia. My top five Mex Beers would list as Bohemia, Indio, Victoria and lastly Dos Equis. Bohemia is by far a great tasting beer and now recently not hard to find.

My favorite beer from Mexico. Hops are up front. Feels good on the tongue, not slick like other Mexican beers. My only beef is that there is a slight corn funk to it that if you don't think about it, it won't appear, it's kind of fleeting. Overall a very good beer.

Most all Mexican beers taste very similar to me...except this one. This beer actually has some floral hops aroma and taste. Very cleanly brewed with no glaring defects. Always my choice in Mexican restaurants with limited beer lists, although I only remember buying it at a store once. First time to taste this beer was 1966 at the brewery in Monterrey. Couldn't understand why they would make Tecate if they were capable of making a beer like Bohemia. Bohemia sold at a higher "premium beer" price in those days...don't know about today. If you haven't tried it, compare it to other Mexican beers you drink and you might be pleasantly surprised.

If you're looking for a North American Pilsener as an alternative to the 'monster brews' flooding the market under the guise of 'IPAs' (or double, triple IPAs) look no further. Bohemia is hoppy and crisp but really blossoms when the cold edge softens. I wouldn't start it at room temp, but it rounds out as it warms up for sure. The mouthfeel is on the light side but the taste packs a nice hoppy punch. It's well balanced too, but definitely hop-forward.

At Cafe de Artiste in PVR.

A: The pilsner is a crisp clear color, straw yellow and clear as day. The beer almost glows. A small head, no more than a half a finger, sat contentedly atop the glass.

S: The nose has a crisp hoppiness and ample malt base. The hops, earthy, contributed a fruity presence.

T: The hoppiness of the pils stands out, from the first sip to the last. The aforementioned fruitiness, a taste that I'd call green apple (and seemingly more appropriate for a Belgian pale ale) stands out. The pils base is bready but light, agile enough to stay out of the way of the hops. An enjoyable beer.

M: The pils isn't afraid of its hoppy side. Good thing, because the earthy citrus flavors really stand out throughout the entire beer.

D: The highlight of the night, a clean pils that doesn't shy away from the hops.

A: The beer pours a clear golden color with a fizzy white head that displays only mild retention.

S: Pretty nice nose to this beer. Some definite corn aromas to it but plenty of bread and malt notes to it as well. Only a hint of hop character which is lightly floral and spicy.

T: A solid sweetness to the flavor which is mostly bready in nature and has a hint of toast to it. Mild yeast and corn flavors with minimal hop bitterness and flavor.

M: Light to medium in body with a medium level of carbonation.

O: It's been a long time since I've had this beer and I was very pleasantly surprised by it. Quite an enjoyable beverage.

This is a low point for me. Why am I reviewing this? Boredom on vacation? Am I a karma slut? I hope not.

Appearance: Yellow color fails to impress but lacing is thick throught. The yellow is not a good golden yellow.

Smell: Some malt going on-I think.

Taste: bland to the extreme.

Mouthfeel: watery but not offensive.

Drinkable: Drinkable in the way water is drinkable. Hey, if you are the type of BA who thinks this kind of beer has its place after mowing the lawn-this is for you. I would recommend water in its stead.
