When I was travelling in Mexico, it was one my favourite beer, regarding the macrobrewery. Of course, it is a clasical one, but it is find. The Body is typical: yellow and Gold, average carbonation and well balanced between malt and hop, the taste is really pleasant at the mouth. This beer is perfect with a tlayuda de Oaxaca.

Most all Mexican beers taste very similar to me...except this one. This beer actually has some floral hops aroma and taste. Very cleanly brewed with no glaring defects. Always my choice in Mexican restaurants with limited beer lists, although I only remember buying it at a store once. First time to taste this beer was 1966 at the brewery in Monterrey. Couldn't understand why they would make Tecate if they were capable of making a beer like Bohemia. Bohemia sold at a higher "premium beer" price in those days...don't know about today. If you haven't tried it, compare it to other Mexican beers you drink and you might be pleasantly surprised.

A good Pilsner. Light golden in color, pristine appearance. A little sulfur in the nose nothing overwhelming. A nice crisp taste. Grains, grass etc. lite bitter bite at the end. Above average mouthfeel, feels more along the line of something craft rather than macro. Over a good beer.

I vote with The Bros on this one. (See their reviews, an 88.)
The 1076 ratings averaging 78 collectively seem to miss two important points.
First, the rather full use of hops is still balanced well with a rather sweet malt. This is an achievement that many crafters still chase that an old school lager like Bohemia can teach them.
Second, this beer goes really well with salsa and chips... which is usually my measure of going with other spicy foods, also. Bohemia quenches the thirst, cleans the palate and complements piquant foods. Can't ask for more than that.

MJ's 1999 "Guide" gave this only 2.5 of 4 stars, but had nice things to say: "a pleasantly hoppy beer with higher gravity typical of its style." He said that about the time that America's favorite condiment became salsa.

Serving Type: 341 mL Bottle poured into a Shaker Pint.

Easily the best Mexican made beer that I've had. Lots of flavours and aromas that would rival many European examples of the same style.
