Poured into a tumbler glass.

*There are two entries in the BA database: Bohemia, and Bohemia Clasica. My bottle label says Bohemia Classic and has 4.7% ABV. The entry for Bohemia Classic in the database has the correct ABV but says it's an American Adjunct Lager. BUT the other entry just listed as Bohemia has the ABV as 5.3%. In other words, the exact bottle of beer I'm reviewing does not match either description on Beer Advocate. That's a shame.

I'm reviewing this beer as Bohemia Classic, a Golden Pilsner with 4.7% ABV. Perhaps I should start a third entry. Just Kidding.

Look: A very slight blurriness in the golden body much as a Pilsener should look; A white head that recedes to pretty much nothing with absolutely no lacing.

Aroma: Sweet with malts, slightly toasted grains, and the faintest of lemongrass in the background.

Taste: A dry semi-citric grassiness comes through -- just enough to indeed remind you that this is brewed in the Pilsener style. Otherwise a good layer of malt sweetness carries the taste with a balance of semi-bitter hops in the very end.

Mouthfeel: Light and dry.

Overall: Despite all of the confusion on labeling, style, and ABV this is a pretty decent clean-tasting pilsener at the price point.

A: Moderate Pils malt aroma with some noble hops.

A: Super clear, golden color with a thin amount of head and not much retention.

T: Crisp and slightly bitter with a medium-dry finish. Moderately low maltiness, pretty crisp with moderate hop bitterness.

M: Light bodied with moderately high carbonation.

O: For a macro this beer is actually pretty solid. Somewhere between a Viennese lager and a German Pilsner. The beer’s appearance is a bit darker than most Pilsners and is reminiscent of a Viennese Lager. However, the flavor and mouthfeel is more suggestive of a Pilsner

This is my go-to beer when there is no time to shop or it is 100 degrees outside. It has a nice gold color, good foam and lots of nice bubbles. It is very balanced, clean and crisp and goes really well with food. The best Mexican beer I have had and in my overall top ten for an everyday beer.

Two 12 ounce bottles consumed with a dinner of fish tacos at Manuel's in downtown Austin while on a business trip. Clean, light and balanced with a bit of a floral quality that I found enjoyable. An easy beer to drink and it paired nicely with my meal. Head and shoulders above every other Mexican beer I've had to date.

This was my regular go-to beer while I lived in Mexico, at that time it tasted great. Taking the opportunity to revisit this back in its country.
Yellow golden color with a thin head with short retention.
Good aroma for style with nice honey and bread notes.
Flavor with notes of herbal hops, grainy malt, honey, mild floral and some lemon drops. Dry aftertaste with a medium bitterness.
Light towards medium body with proper carbonation.
Very decent for a mass lager, balanced with easily perceived hops to my surprise. Maybe that is why 15 years ago I perceived this to be a bitter one, that before the craft beer world. No thrills, but it is refreshing and pleasant without being dull.

Poured from a bottle (best by date 19Sep15) into a pilsner glass.
LOOK: Pours with a finger's worth of white foam that halves itself after a minute and a half. Gold in color. There is a plethora of ascending bubbles. Lacing is thin, but moderate.
SMELL: Mild aromas of grass and sweet bready pilsner malts first enter my olfactory receptors. These malt aromas are incredibly well balanced by mild bitter hops and slightly less mild spicy hops.
TASTE: Initial taste is mild grass and sweet bread flavors that combine with milder bitter hop flavors. All flavors persist as mild spicy hop flavors enter immediately after. This is incredibly well balanced as the smell told me.
FEEL: Medium-bodied with moderate carbonation. This goes down smooth and finishes crisp.
NOTE: As noted twice, this was brilliantly balanced between hops and malts. I know people always compare this to other brews from Mexico, but they really shouldn't. This is not an American Adjunct Lager and shouldn't be compared to Corona or Dos Equis.
