The best beer our great neighbors from the south have provided. I once went to a Mexican restaurant and the stuck a lime on the top of the bottle... I flicked that stupid lime in a second and informed the waiter, this is Bohemia a real beer #nolimerequired.

What's this? A beer called Bohemia...and made in Mexico? Will wonders never cease. Even more wonderful, despite the fact it looks like your typical crummy Mexican lager, this one's actually not half bad. Nice sweet smell, a bit more malty and flavorful than most of the Mexican beers I've become used to, and the detectable presence of a hop or two.

Actually a nicely quaffable little brew. Really surprisingly good.

This poured to a bright yellow and gold color with plenty of head. It didn't last too long and it didn't leave much lace either.

There is definitely some of the corn grain taste in there, but it's not too bad. It finishes like a relatively classy lager. It feels nice in the mouth and is really drinkable, especially in warm and hot weather.

Clear straw color with a subdued off-white head, decent carbonation, and decent lace. Light grainy malt aroma and flavor with light fruitiness. Medium bodied, creamy and smooth.

Not a Vienna Lager but a darn good Mexican beer ... more like a Helles and a good one at that.

A- Poured from 12oz bottle into pint glass. Pours a golden straw color with a thin white head that lingers. Good lacing.

S- Not much to speak of here. I will say that i was in a Mexican restaurant with a lot going on making it difficult to pick up on the aroma. There was certainly no astringent aroma like I usually get with most Mexican beers. I did detect some sweetness and grain.

T- Much better than I expected. Too accustomed to the poor beers that I get at Mexican restaurants like Corona or Tecate. Sweet biscuiy taste foward, hop finish. A nice bite of hops that was quite a delightful surprise. Very smooth. Nice balance

M- Light body, clean and refreshing. Perfect carbonation.

O- By far the best Mexican option IMO. A really nice effort on a German Pils. Will be my go to beer when I am eating spicy Mexican food. The sweetness of this beer really suits well with the spice.

The first beer I enjoyed off the resort, and what a pleasant surprise it was!

A - Pours a pale golden colour, finger of head with some retention and sporadic lacing.

S - Metallic musty malts, hints of leafy greens, grassy hop notes and hints of burnt cane sugar.

T - The first Mexican beer that has traces of hops! Surprisingly flavourful and fitting of the style. Grassy hop notes amidst some muddled metallic caramel malts and hints of bitter citrus notes.

M - Medium bodied, smooth and finishes with a touch of dryness.

O - I don't know if this was the result of a dulled palette from drinking flavourless beers on the resort, but this Mexican brew actually boasts some flavourful hop characteristics. Easy drinking and mild enough on the palette to enjoy in the intense Mexican heat. The best option in Mexico IMO.

Poured into a pint glass.

A- Pale golden color with virtually no head.

S- Sweet malts, maybe some white grapes.

T- Very sweet. Sugar, some white grapes, sweet malts, syrup, green apples and some grainy bitterness at the end.

M- Flat, thick, syrupy.

D- I can drink a decent amount, but the high sugar content might limit this to a six pack.

Pleasantly surprised with this. Up until tonight, I thought Negra Modelo was the best Mexican macro beer. I found a better one.

Bohemia is the most complex lager I've tasted and probably my favorite Mexican beer.

I keep it in the bottle -- there's not much to look at but straw yellow and fizz with no head retention.

The nose draws me in. It's far beyond my expectations; there's a nice thick biscuit smell mixed with lemony hops and grain. It's almost like a domestic macro, but with good character.

The tongue is bombarded with delicious pale malt and a pronounced sweetness thereof. The malts add a great creamy mouthfeel that's unfortunately shortened by a grain bite. Hops. The loudest flavor in this beer is the hop citrus -- saaz-like, not bitter. Definite adjuncts, but not unpleasant. The finish is lovely of mild black pepper and anise. If only they'd kept it pure, this might have been a world class beer.

Relax, relax.

Appearance: Pours a super clear pale yellow straw color with a small 1/4" head at first pour. The head was white and active, but didn't stick around but for about 20-30 seconds. There are a few bubbles rising.

Aroma: Really grainy and earthy aroma. There is a bit of a floral character contributed by the hops, but the malt is the key player here. As you smell deeper, there is a bit of an oxidative off aroma noticeable. This seems to be contributing a bit of a phenolic note also.

Taste: The malt is the key player in the flavor also. I was a bit put off by the aroma, but the flavor is nicer. There is a slightly dry grainy flavor that is probably the biggest kid on the block. The hopping is evident, but subtle and floral to let the grain follow through into the finish. The beer is really quite dry and refreshing, and I enjoy the fact that the hops support rather than lead. As the beer warms a bit, you can get a bit of a chalky flavor in the throat, but this isn't detracting or distracting...just a note.

Opinion: I was surprised by this beer. It is really light, but manages to retain a significant maltiness. It has enough presence from the Vienna malt that I truly believe that this is a representation of the Vienna style. I thought that it was a bit lacking in dextrines and just all-around chewyness, but still an approachable beer.

A: Pale golden yellow, 1 cm head dissipates before I'm done pouring.

S: Trying hard to pick something up here, citrus hops maybe, faint malts in the background?

T: Surprised by the taste since I couldn't get anything from the nose. More complex than expected. Dull malts up front a little bit of hops and a slightly bitter finish.

M: High carbonation, good finish.

D: Very nice lighter beer, could drink this for days.

Reviewing this as a Mexican Lager not as a German Pils:

Poured into a glass. I had the first few sips without the lime, then I put it in there.

A: Light yellow color, not much head. No lacing or retention once the lime goes in.

S: Mostly bready malts, actually smelled much better than expected. No adjunct or import notes detected.

T: Mostly the same bready malts from the smell. Perhaps a slight bitterness at the end. Not much of a pils. With a lime in it, the beer is really crisp and refreshing. The taste of the beer does a nice job offsetting the flavors of the food.

M/D: average mouthfeel, a bit lighter body than I wanted. The drink-ability is good. But I'll only have one of these with some Mexican food or perhaps a day at the beach.

Serving glass: Poured from bottle into a tall glass.

Appearance: Clear, light yellow with bubbly white head that mostly recedes.

Smell: Mostly hay and grass, with some spicy hops. Minimal fruitiness.

Taste: Very grassy with only a tingle of apple. Ends with a light spicy and metallic bitterness.

Feel: High carbonation, light body. Semi-dry finish.

Drinkability: Very light, easy drinking Pilsner. Not very exciting, but it does what it does quite well. Could drink a lot of these.

Enjoyed out of a 12oz bottle into a pint glass.

This is one of the better Mexican lagers out there. It poured lighter than one would expect from the style, but it was a slightly darker shade of straw than most macro lagers. It had a pretty typical "beer" smell, that is to say some malt, adjunct, and a touch of skunk, but it was pleasing. The taste was surprising. While there were corn adjuncts floating around in the background, it had a pleasing light malt taste, with a very mild, but actually present hop profile. It went down easy and I was ready for another. This might now be my go to Mexican beer.

Appearance: golden, clear, sturdy 2 finger head head with great staying power and lacing
Smell: great blast of malt with spicy hops, strongest part of beer
Taste/Mouthfeel: this is where it stumbled a bit, the taste was a faint version of the smell, thus a bit disappointing, mouthfeel was a trace "watery" not full and foamy
Drinkability: all around a fine pilsner, actually very close to greatness had it tasted like it smelled!

Poured into a shaker pint. Pours a clear pale golden color with a short white big bubbled head that quickly goes into a thin ring with no lacing. Very grainy aroma with a bit of hops too. Tangy flavor up front and a sweetish finish. This so far is my favorite Mexican beer in this style. Very drinkable and a good session beer.

Ok bought in the 12 oz memorably shaped brown bottle..nice simple label.
Average looking good lager colour..light golden with a nice sized head..thats persistent.
Actually quite a good aroma to this for a mexican beer..very hoppy with nice malt.
This is a good lager beer for sure..some traits reminicent of a Czech pilsner..with a ltlle more sweet malts..very nice hopping.
Pretty nice fel on the palate.
A very nice and drinkable lager from Mexico..i would have this again.

The best of the mass-produced Mexican beers, for sure ... a vienna? lager/ pilsener in style (lots of Germans migrated to Mexico, back in the days... thus , the blonde haired/blue-eyed Mexican folks ...)
A nice elegance? / soul that is usually missing from other cheapy macro-swill brews ... A decent smooth body and finish that doesn't assault your taste buds or sensibility as much as uber-hopped west coast style ales will do . (aint nobody got time for that...)
Ideal for basic Mexican cuisine (or any spicy food) .
has recently (2015) become my go-to 'cheap' beer when I don't want to spend more than $25/case . hits all the right notes in my mouth and won't crunkify you too much even if you have a couple too many ... ( can you say session beer ? )

This is my favorite Mexican beer. When we first started road-tripping to Mexico as youngsters, we drank Corona because it was everywhere. Once I discovered Bohemia, I never went back. It tastes great icy cold on the beach or with carne asada for dinner.

Medium yellow straw; clean, with a finger of dense, off-white head. Smells of lightly toasted, sweetbread malts, with a dose of spicy, almost citrusy hop backing. Not bad. Bubbly, acidic and bitter up front. Turns mid-palate toward lightly sweetened, grainy malt. Finish is dry and bitter with a hint of clean malt. Light to medium bodied, with a crisp, refreshing feel. Surprisingly good.

A - golden yellow color with very little head. Carbonation looks nice.

S - very earthy and sweet, almost fruity. Definitely lots of grain.

T - very sweet taste as well with that light fruitiness coming through. Powerful bready taste. A slight hop kick at the end to help with balance. The finish is slightly dry.

M - surprisingly smooth for as light as it is. Carbonation isn't quite as powerful as it looked upon initial pour.

D - this was a very enjoyable beer. It's drinkable yet complex enough to make you pay attention as you drink it. the faint sweetness tempts you to figure out what you are tasting. You can also just relax and put a few away because it's light and smooth. Another example of not judging a book by it's cover.
